Looks great, tape lines look good.

Noob question here....how much welding and metal shaping experience did you have before beginning this project? You are doing a fantastic job. I bought BobM parts almost 2 years ago and they are still in boxes. I have no experience and limited garage space and have contemplated using fiberglass to fix rust and move on. Would love to find a MUD member that would tackle my project for a reasonable price. My 79 drives well but looks bad.
As @bobm says "It's only metal". Worst case is you buy a few more grinding discs to clean things up, right?

Being courageous enough to take on learning a new skill will pay dividends in the future.

Are floor pan patches a part of your project? That would be a place to start, b/c once you get them to the point where you like them, you can hide them under the floor mats.

I don't think there is a welding question you could ask in here that would wear this crowd out. This is an amazing group in terms of helping each other out. Everyone here has for one reason or another thought a Pig was worth saving, so we have all just rolled up our sleeves and begun. These guys and gals are all awesome. I will tell you my little sister knows more about welding than I do. You can do it!

At this point the only parts left for bodywork are the upper fenders. They're in rough shape, it's another big project with a lot of work to do.

Because of time and weather we decided to get some paint on the body and work on the fenders at a later time. We may be burnt out on the bodywork? Or may be looking for something else to do?

Big day, bought the paint. Going with base coat / clear coat. This paint is like liquid gold. It cost more than I paid for the vehicle!\

Yes, there is nothing cheap about paint!

But man, as soon as you see that color land on the primer, it is such a thrill! The Pig doesn't run any better, but she looks SO much better.

If you are getting burnt on the bodywork, a little splash of color might be enough to motivate you...

Picking a vehicle color is a big deal! We've had some fun with it at home. Had a contest with friends and family on what the colors may be. Nobody was allowed in the garage. No peeking. I have to say they know me pretty well, the color I picked was in the top two. My wife picked the 72 40, my son picked the 60, this one was my turn.

I typically lean toward the purist side but thought I would go out of my comfort zone with this one. The Pig already has a few mods SBC, power steering, overdrive, the front seat is not original . I'll be going with bucket seats. It's my version of a low level resto mod?

Stayed with a Toyota color,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Smoked Mesquite, Vintage Brown typically seen on the Tundra.

I'll add better pictures throughout. It's too tight in the paint booth to get a good angle.

Picking color IS a big deal!

Please tell me you at least talked about going Panther Pink?

Pablo - agreed, mix it up for some variety. Does keep you motivated. Thanks for the input.......Bill

Panther Pink is always a consideration. Unfortunately after much thought I elected to go in another direction :) . Didn't want to steal your idea!

The build is already done. These pics are just being slowly “leaked”.

Had me laughing by myself with that comment. Possibly you know something I don't? I wish it was true.

We are further along at this point. Bringing everyone up to date. Definitely have some more pictures and updates. More "leaks" to follow.

@RUSH55 always knows something we don't!

Some more "leaked photos".

Working in a standard garage has it's limitations. Slightly narrower than we'd like but workable. What is not workable is the height clearances for painting.

The wife was not happy about the slapped together structure that suddenly appeared in the driveway. Had to do some fast talking. As mentioned didn't have enough room to paint the roof inside so we built a paint booth outside. It doesn't look like much? But it did the job. Found some lumber laying around, constructed a frame and wrapped it in plastic.

I'm sure some of you may be laughing but I'm calling it ingenuity!

Looks like it could double as a gallows. Maybe you can make your money back on the supplies?

When I repaint- I am more than likely going with the Pueblo Brown Or Australian Bronze Olive version. Looks great.
