Thank you Sean. It all came back to me after your first few words.

I still cannot understand where this could've gone wrong. We've sold dozens of kits without an issue. As I said, I even used this same kit on my own truck-'63 FJ45 and everything is snug as bug.

After all this discussion though I don't know what else to do other than refund your purchase. But if we hear of other situations like yours, we'll certainly be modifying our hardware.

I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you. And I'm sorry your situation slipped my memory. We work very hard to serve our customers honorably.

Look on your credit card statement in the next couple days to see the refund.

Please accept our apology.
Thanks.

Thanks Scott. With all due respect, you did know about it because I sent you an email as soon as I got the parts and attempted to install them. You personally replied that my doors have obviously been drilled out and and required a larger bolt/nut combination, and that a you would not compensate me for a modification to my door.

I'm here to tell you that I checked my old bolts (M6-1.00 threads) against another (award-winning, very stock) '74 model, and the bolts were the same. In fact, every bolt and screw on both my doors is M6-1.00, and I cannot imagine someone going through the trouble to drill and tap every one of the holes if they buggered one or two of them up.

Therefore, I came to the conclusion that the bolts (screws actually) that I got from you were incorrect. The two attachments show the packages I received from Cruiser Corps and a side-by-side comparison of the old vs. new screws. I ended up going to the local hardware store and getting countersunk flathead M6-1.00 screws for the handles and cranks.

Sean Van Andel - order #16099. Tell me how you want to make it right. I'm all ears.

Thank you Scott. I don't know what the deal is, but I can assure you that my doors have not been modified like that. Check the rest of this thread, and please tell me if something looks amiss with my doors. I appreciate your swift resolution and will continue to do plenty of business with your Cruiser Corps.

Mine had floppy paddles. I thought about putting a c-clip on the inside of the shaft as a spacer/centering device, but I couldn't guarantee a good fix and the price of new parts was right for me. I got a set of 2 whole assemblies from Cruiser Corps for $60. I'm glad I got the new ones instead of fussing with the old ones.
I fully restored my handles. It was a snap. I have yet to post pics of the procedure. I ground off the rivet that held the paddle handle and then tapped it for a 10mm bolt. I ran the bolt through and put a lock nut on the back. I removed the plastic and sand blasted all the bits and sprayed them with Rustoleum Hammerite. When I put the plastic back on the handles and put some large heatshrink around them to prevent cracking.

I am at the office now or I would post a pic. It took only a few hours of work over a couple days just because I had to wait for the paint to dry.

As promised, here are the part number and pictures of the Toyota door weatherstrip. I also checked my notes and shipped to my door from CDan was 80.22 for both passenger and driver.

Well, it seems that not only did I buy an aftermarket seal that is probably not as thick as it should be, I got screwed in the process....If my new weatherstripping doesn't hold up, I'll get this next time.

Thanks for the tip!

Wow! that's a deal. I've got a July 1974, would this also fit? the Stock weatherstripping is no longer available for a 74.

Best bet would be to call CDan with the part number and see what he says. It was available when I ordered middle of last year. I scrounged up the part number from another mud thread and Dan knew right away what I needed.

FYI, my doors are 1970 and the weather stripping fits fine, other then in the door striker area where I had to cut some away. You'll likely run into the same fitment issues I did in regards to wind leakage (which compared to the rest of my truck is very minor!), but all in all, it seems to fit pretty good, although now I really have to slam the door to get it closed.

Rocket sorry to hijack your thread, but hopefully this can be a good reference for future mudders.

No aplogy necessary. That's why I posted.

Just finished up my driver side door. Took a week or so of evenings but I am very pleased with the results. Thanks for this thread and all the insight boys!

I'm thinking its time to fix mine. I'll have to see if I can get OEM weatherstripping sent to Canada.

Any long term updates?

bump for working on these early doors... how do you get that chrome plate off the door where the latch holds the wing vent in place? Do most people just tape it off for paint?

looks sharp.... good job on the weatherstriping. I used a helper when I did my upper doors.
