Not trying to hijack but here’s a picture with the Hooker manifold and Saginaw PS kit from Advanced Adapters. Engine is offset 1” to driver’s side for front driveshaft clearance, engine mount flush with the top of the frame.

There’s about 1/2” to 3/4” clearance between the 3/4” DD steering shaft and the manifold. I put the 1” DD part of the shaft on the bottom.

Allworknoplay, where are you mounting the PCM? Was thinking under the glove box and routing through the firewall and enlarging one of the existing holes. May run AC at some point so I don’t want to block that.

I haven't tried to get fancy with the PCM location. I have it mounted in the engine bay on the passenger fender. I am painting the inside of the truck at some point, so I wanted to keep as much stuff out of the way until that's done. I think I'll probably end up with it inside my glove box at the end of this process.

Nice looking project. I am going to be doing the same to my 71.
How is the clearance between the H55f shifter and the bench seat in the 69?

Also interested to your take on the headers, I have a saginaw power steering swap and have some concerns about clearances.
I have the seats out at this point so I'm not sure yet. But I'm glad you asked. I've been so focused on positioning for the stock heater, that I didn't think into that. I am going to run the stock seats for sure. If I have a few minutes in the near future, I'll place them in and take a pic for MUD land.

Any pictures of under the rig? Did you have to cut your frame tube crossmember out?
I didn't have to cut anything, but that isn't to say it wasn't modified before me. I do believe i have a stock crossmember that is humped for the driveshaft. I don't know if that was stock for '69 or not. I'll post a pick of the clearance with the driveshaft in place when I can.

I finally think I'm at a good point to start a build thread. I have a 69 FJ40 that I've been threatening to do something with for about 4 years. It's a really solid AZ truck that I got from the family of the original owner.

Here's the recipe:
• LS1 5.3 from a 2002 Silverado
• H55f 5 spd and FJ60 transfercase
• Wilwood disk brake converted front axle
• Restore rear wheel wells to stock with realsteel patch panels
• Some new paint
• Reupholstered stock seats

I will put in some cruiser porn here, before the back story...
