I use rivnuts that are about 1/3 the strength you are thinking and they work fine

yeah.....I'm aware of those and "we" (my friend and I) were bouncing that around in discussion...that was my initial first thought...rev-nuts or something similar. Likely that will be the solution, i need to get a rev-nut gun kit anyway. Really amazing how those work. I wanted to ask around to see what solutions if anything different others had come up with. Bolts are not really a good approach for the reasons I noted.

I cut out a 4x4 piece of plywood to fit between the wheel wells. I put some flip up d-rings in it to tie stuff down, with t-nuts on the other side of the wood. It weighs nothing and is easily removable. And it adds almost zero height to the floor, so I can still sleep in the truck.

My theory is that if I’m off-roading or in a minor accident, the whole load moves as one and will be blocked by the seats/sides. If I’m in a major wreck, it’s an FJ60... I’m toast.

Sounds reasonable. I have a piece of plywood that is about the same....it conforms to the general area of the rear bed....I cut it recently as part of this process I'm talking about. I wanted fixed mounts for the refrigerator I plan to buy, and I'm going to put my air compressor back there as with my V8 and misc stuff under the hood I don't have any room there and I don't think I want it hanging off the frame. So I can put whatever on the wood and I have zero concerns about holes there....and like you said its removable. I'm "goona think" a little more on this and likely go with the rev-nut approach and small frame + plywood deck. I've only cut some wood at this point and have been trying to get my friend motivated to make the little frame. Likely will also use "T-Nuts" to attach things to the plywood.

Not a bad idea at all to forgo the mount business and just cut a clean section of plywood that conforms better to the rear bed, I got in a hurry on mine and kind of half-@ssed the cuts...but its not like I can't start over and give a @#@# better next time. I may just do that and test things out ....and then if I like it I'm good and no additional holes in the bed, if I don't like it, then I kick my friend in the @$$$ and get the small frame thing done.

Glad my friend is not on mud....he's only like 6/5 and hard core.... he might kick me in the @@#$ just for fun :censor:

I am looking to buy a single Aisin free wheeling hub for an FJ60. My research says that is a Aisin FHT-013. Anyone have one?

I have a single new one on the shelf at my house and I have some used ones.

I’m out until Monday. You can get them new from Cruiser Outfitters for just over $120

Right. I'm looking for a single as a spare to carry in the truck. Used is fine, helps with cost. If you have an odd number and want to sell one, let me know. If you are going to Mardi Krawl, I can get it from you there...

Remind me Monday I’ll dig one out of my parts pile

Man he’s grown up. Seems like just yesterday he was at the shop asking me if I had any 40 tool kits laying around

That's for sure. If the 40 had been road worthy he would have driven that.

It needs a small lift and some tires. Then the stripes rule.
