That has to be your favorite spot... awesome!

Visited Yosemite and admired this rig for a good minute before circling back around the parking lot and finding the owner had returned. Talked cruisers for a couple minutes before some other folks stopped by to take a look. Someone had also wrote "Hey nice LC" on the hatch glass. It was most recently built up at Stoffregen Motorsports and was featured in Four Wheeler. There's also a build thread over at Expedition Portal.

So the Four Wheeler Article states that the wheels are 17X8 American Racing Mohaves. They look like American Racing Outlaw II to me. Plus in the article it said they were teflon coated. In the four wheeler article pics, the rims were black with bigger holes. Am I missing something?

I only ask because I really like this stance and I would like to replicate it on my 62.

Which engine is that? Need a hear transplant one of these days but can’t make up my mind which route to go. I’d like to try and do the work myself (zero engine install skills).

It's a 12HT diesel from an HJ61.

The owner (I'm a dummy and can't remember his name) said he couldn't solve a fishtailing problem so swapped the wheels at some point with off the shelf wheels from Les Schwab.

So you got your 60 running ay? Great! Engine swap?
Well, it was running all along, just didn't trust the repair on the crankshaft to get all the way out to Colorado and back. This was probably the last run with the 2F if all goes to plan.

Whats the plan Darrell?

Current plan is a 1hz + turbo mated to an H55 (or possibly H150/H151 depending on availability), with 3:1 t-case gears. I'll be making a phone call tomorrow to hopefully get the ball rolling!

I've also got to do some work to the front suspension, since I came down hard on a rock with the front driver side spring hanger and bent it pretty severely while making my way into the 45 Run at night. (my 60 has the 4+ shackle reversal so the fixed mount is what is damaged)

Almost there with ya... these pics are making me drool. Got my 4plus bumper today and in its new home.

Next Saturday SOA conversion starts. Marlin Crawler high steer, Ruff Stuff SOA, hydro assist ram, Chevy 63 springs & FJ80 rear axle.

I can’t wait to follow that build thread.

Sweet combo. I remember our diesel talk at SAS 2. Looks like we both are going Toyota. 2nd the need for a build thread on your progress.
