Great pics! The one of the fire is awsome..

Any of the trucks have open differentials?

Hi all!!

Great pics--looks like you all had a great trip!! I am still amazed that some of you went in and out in one day!

The last time we went into the area from Mammoth we took the route that bypassed carpet hill(recently locked off). In looking over the hill from the bottom, we weren't certain whether we should even try with open diffs and so we did not So did all of you have at least one locker?(or not). I guess that if some of you went open, I shouldn't be such a wuss!!

BTW, was the blazer/jimmy that was in the group the same one that I saw in pix of the jeep tour that did Pinal Mtn./Devils Canyon the next day?

Tim's XTerra was open in both diffs. Going up carpet hill open might be tough, but other than that the trail isn't bad.

There were at least 2 rigs with open diffs (the orange 40 and the X) and neither had any issue. A little clearance and decent tires are all that's required.

A lot of great pics there Tim. Thanks for joining us. You're welcome any time.

The water coming out of my hair looked like chocolate milk.

How was the back of everyone's rigs? The 40 had mini sand dunes all over everthing and our lungs feel like Hepa filters..

Probably, that is ChaseTruck and we ran Pinal Mtn./Devils Canyon on Saturday.

Ran into a group of 20 from AZVJC coming the other way. The leader was very helpful in providing directions when we were about to turn around. We wheel another 20mi or so, come out in the outshirts of Miami, find a wide spot to air up and he walks up and asks how was your run? We were parked across the street from his house!:hillbilly:

Edit: upon further inspection, nope that wasn't me.:D The pics on AZVJC show a blue Chevy Suburban. However, we were on that same trail as the Jeeps on Saturday; we ran the trail in the opposite direction, though.

Regarding lockers for Rug Road: in the west-to-east direction, in dry conditions, I didn't see any need to lock axles.
I'd rather not spin a tire going up Carpet Hill, though.

What are the chances? Thats funny:). As we were airing up, i kept seeing 4X4 truck after truck coming and going from that driveway right across from us....definetly made it nice getting the info from the guy and not having to turn around.

Long day, IMHO by staying in Globe, wasn't as long as doing the Gap from PHX. We made it to the hotel at 8PM, when running the Gap we don't make it home till ~11PM.

As an acquaintance of mine is wont to point out: "...get ARBs and Nitrous, and keep pushing buttons until you make it..." :hillbilly:

On a more serious note:it's a bit difficult for those of us with selectable lockers f/r to advocate that something can be driven with open diffs. It is quite a different perception when you know you can lock both ends at any time if need be...

We saw an interesting alternative to lockers on Saturday on the Devil's Canyon run. Chevy suburban, about 18 passengers. Got stuck? - just tell everyone to get out and push...
