5.3 fuel pump WTF

I run the high pressure filter after the pump (in between pump and motor ) and a low pressure nylon filter in between the tank and pump to take out any large dirt but not restrict the flow to much.

I have the GM fuel filter between pump and engine, then I have a earls fuel filter between the fuel tank and the pump.

What model Walbro are you running? This is exactly my plan for my 5.3 swap!

Bob these are the part numbers :
Walbro 255 intank fuel pump
and
Walbro P256 Pump Kit.

I order from Cyberauto their part numbers are/were
WAL GSS341
WAL 400-760.

I swap to an FJ62 tank and used this pump on my 60. It is much more quiet.

Thanks! I'll probably work up a quick PM about the rest of your fuel system shortly. You're making it easy for me to be lazy!

Must be coincidence, but I am on my 2nd MSD pump, I think I am running model 2225, but the same layout you have. I also had fuel pump problems on my way to Roundup.

I will be following this thread...

so you moved the filter to after the pump?

You should put a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail. There is a schraider valve on the passenger side you can pull it out and install a cheap guage

It's in my build thread, but what I did for a strainer was take a cast-off Aeromotive fuel filter assembly and remove it's paper filter. The filter element has stainless steel ends so I cut off the paper and removed the glue holding the paper to the SS parts. Then I rolled some stainless wire mesh into a 'tube' that fit the filter element's SS parts and silver soldered it all together.
