4wd indicator for fj40 early transfer case

Any idea how/what those two wires connect? The only pics I can find has the boot covering the end.

Thanks for those. After seeing that I actually have all the parts except the plastic/rubber top where the ends of the wires go. If I could figure out some way to cobble that together I’d be set. Might try to use some hard plastic and epoxy. So basically the middle part of the switch raises up and connects the wire ends and that turns the light on. Lots going on just to turn a light on…but I guess then you know it is engaged.

Strange just the plastic end cap around the terminals on yours is missing! I bet you could cut a new one from some plastic and seal the edges with epoxy.
 
Sure looks like the detent ball to my eyes. Although it isn't necessary to remove it, a coat hanger with some double stick tape on the end might get it out.
 
You can bend the contacts together and put it together with tape and use a meter to test if it’s working or not. I couldn’t get the plunger out so I just sprayed it with contact cleaner and worked it around until it felt smooth and easy to move.
