Last year I did the perimeter loop around Corral Canyon / Los Pinos Lookout.

Anyone want to go?

Are you looking to go on the 4th proper or over the weekend?

What time do you figure we would be airing down / airing up?
I'd like to go as early as possible. Since you're 'up north', give me a time. We could meet at the same place as last time (Carl's Jr.).

Yeah, on the 4th. My weekends are busy right now. The 4th is a "free day".

Hasn't that run turned into a paved road followed by a graded fire road or am I thinking of something different? I think Eric said that they did Bronco peak recently.

When the pavement ends, is when the fun begins. The paved area is only up to the lookout. After that it's rocks, ruts, and beautiful views.

I believe Corral Canyon is closed south of the Bronco Peak Trail. The lookout and Los Pinos Mtn. are in the northern area of the park (IIRC unaffected by the fire).

I've never run Bronco Peak in a 4X4 before (only dirt bikes, many, many years ago).

Found a map and trail list for CC.

PM if you want a larger version.

I was thinking going from Four Corners to the lookout, then Espinosa Trail, down Corte Madera Rd., up Corral Canyon Rd. to the CC Campground, and then Bronco Peak. (or in reverse).

When I was up there a few months ago, that's the impression that we were under as well. What we found was a well graded fire road. We followed it all the way to the bottom but it was all the same. I may still be thinking of the wrong trail since I don't know any of their names but I know the guys I was with knew the area. After we made it back to the trail head we all headed for Carveacre.

Here's the write up Eric did on Bronco peakhttp://adventure4x4.net/waiting/showthread.php?t=1387

Maybe you could PM him or Marc (MarcP) before we all head off in that direction.

Steve, if you went up to the lookout, then off pavement, that sounds right. The map shows it as "Los Pinos Four-Wheel Drive Route".

That sucks.

Not that great of an example, but this is how it was last 4th. <- That was my first trip out in the "new" LC.

I saw Eric's post over there. We could do Bronco Peak or some of the other Corral Cyn Trails. There are a few interior runs through the park. I'm going to do some more reading and PM those guys.

OR if you have another suggestion . . .

Spend the day at Lahaina's:cool:

Honestly, you probably know of more areas to wheel than I do. I'm a little skeered it's going to be too hot everywhere.

Sorry won't be able to make it after all. Not because of the heat though. ;)

I'm going to have to sit this one out. I forgot my brother and his wife are coming into town on Tuesday evening.

No worries fellas. Next time . . .

Alright.

I'm thinking; go out early (7-8am) to Corral Canyon and running Bronco Peak and ???. I'd like to get out of there around lunch time 12-1.

What do you think?
