Interesting. So the speed control tied to the Crawl Control would help slow down descent more so than DAC. That makes CC more useful for me than I thought, I may end up getting it after all!

DAC and crawl speeds listed here on this post

Just find a straight piece of road to drive on..you don’t have to immediately straight

Once the directional tire indicator comes back on dash you are good. Just for reference I had to pull 50 feet forward down my sloped driveway and then a 90 degree turn

you will be fine
Thanks so much!! What an easy upgrade!! Excited to out and try it!!

well, I'm a +1, installed today using the great info on this forum. Paperclip method for registration was almost too easy. Looking forward to trying out next time at the beach!

I think you'll like it! I tried it out today, and found it to be awesome! I tried various combinations of regular ol' 4-Lo with locked center, 4-lo 1st gear for downhills, MTS, and MTS+CC. CC at lowest speed is awesome for crawling up and down slopes. It noticeably reduces wheel spin, and starts-and-stops uphill, and skids downhill. It allows you to just focus on steering, and picking the best line. It almost makes it...boring? At low speed -1 MPH- it will occasionally come to a complete stop as it encounters an obstacle, such as a near-vertical step, and then start again, and overcome it as it apples more throttle. I was on desert terrain, and to be fair, it had rained a few days ago, so there was "decent" traction to start with. I run 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks at 16 psi. I have full skids and sliders, so not afraid to take hard lines. Went in and out of various washes, and took hills anywhere from 50 ft to 100 yards. One short section very close to 45 degrees, it crawled right up (and back down) in CC-lo. Went over moguls, loose rock, small ledges in the middle of ascents, etc.

Is it make or break? I don't think so. Could they be replace with simply better "skill"? To a point, sure, but the same could be said about ATRAC, CDL, F/R diff locks, or even low range. That's really not the point, unless you're into earning an award for most-minimalist wheeler. We should all be always improving our "skill", right? I find the GX to be more capable than my 100-series was, which was way more capable than my 60-series, and "for my wheeling needs", pretty close to my 80 series. MTS and CC are just 2 more tools in your toolbox for various obstacles, and at $450-$500 bucks for both, pretty dang good bang-for-the-buck.

Thanks for the real world experience. I am looking forward to being able to get my GX off pavement for the first time New Year's weekend. Gonna play around with MTS and CC just like you did.

Agreed! nice to have these extra tools in case we need them, especially at this price.

Just re-read your post and see that you tried MTS + CC. I didn't know that both could be used in tandem, interesting.

That should work. A reminder to those not sure what TheNomad is talking about.

I came across this rare one the other day. There are some "very rare" base models in 10-13 years that were equipped with crawl and the cameras. This is the production version of what the 090 switch was for. I've only seen in one early 460 review video and a member of GXOR had one of these rare base optioned models. I think they are primarily '10 or '11 but numbers are so few to know for sure.

Rare '10 base with just the cameras and crawl.

It's a US spec as it shows up in the Lexus VIN lookup tool and this one is being sold in Texas

2010 review video with the 090 switch, PA, and the cameras

You can see the front camera, the little dot just below the "L" logo in front.

Anybody figure it out for the 21 yet?

Waiting on someone to take a leap of faith with a new $1k skid control ECU that may or may not work....

Do we have a volunteer yet 🤔

Not sure if this was covered, but what is a more useful install?
The CC? Seems like it would be a great option for tough spots.
Or the MTS? Does it make it better for general snow and offroad driving? Does it make CC even better?

I've only just installed CC and haven't tried it out yet, but in my use I see using MTS way more often. It's handy on sand and loose surfaces. I am looking forward to heading back to beach when it's warmer, turning all driving aides off and trying to get stuck, to see how useful CC and even MTS is in that situation.

I don't think I've seen an answer to use of CC + MTS, would be curious to hear what different settings of MTS has on CC performance in certain situations.
