Got my new fuel pump. Waiting to see if 4rnr is going to let me trade back.

Fuel sending unit and fuel gauge showed up this morning so I took a different gauge cluster apart to see if my plan to fit sun pro gauges into the old cluster would work.

I think it will work great. I got the idea from looking at tornado's cluster.

Got a lot of things buttoned up today.

Set the toe. Speed wobbles are gone.
Balanced the tires.
Flipped the two white letter out tires so they are all black out.
Got the turn signal lights on the dash working. They weren't grounding through the new paint.
Ran the wires for the oil pressure and coolant temp gauges.
Found the problem with the front running lights. The wire had broken at the switch. Wired up the bib lights
Ran a second ground to the left front turn signal. It works well now.
Fixed the dripping rear diff.
Got the exhaust a lot quieter. Still leaks a bit at the header.
Fixed the wipers.
Wired the license plate light
And, of course, put new gauges in the gauge cluster

It's getting pretty drivable.

Wired up the gauges this morning and installed them. I had 100 psi of oil pressure and 250 degrees of temp at start up. Amps were right on though.

Put in the sending units that came with the gauges and everything it right where it should be

Soldered and shrink tubed and taped the harness everywhere now that I'm done messing with it. Under hood and under dash are nice and clean.

Truck looks really good hey. You gonna paint the bed?

Of course. I just got anxious to start enjoying it. I might get the bed done before winter. I almost got talked it to just spraying it while it was off today. It would look awful. Even though it's the wrong bed I've gotta clean it up some before shooting it.

I drilled a hole in the gas tank today. That was kinda exciting. Mounted the sending unit and wired it up. I have all my gauges working now.

Welded the filler door on better while the bed was off and the fuel line wasn't connected.

Tweaked the new pitman arm to clear the rivet on the frame it was hitting.

Tried on the stock steering wheel. I think I like it better than the tiny momo I had on there.

Filled some more bolt holes in the firewall. A few of them worked out well to put wire clamps on. Gotta find some big grommets for the big wiring harness holes and the clutch master hole.

Grommeted all the 1"ish holes

It is a blast to bomb around. I'm glad I'm gonna end up keeping it.

Grabbed the old big grommets from the LV. I'll put new ones on both trucks when I can source them
Passenger seat belt came today. Made some brackets and bolted it in.
Mounted a rear 40 heater in the center of the firewall. I have a 40 heater, but it wouldn't have a blower. I have the dealer installed heater, but it's huge and ugly. The 40 rear heater looks cool and will blow a little heat on my feet on cool evenings.
I had to move the fuse block over a little. The flasher didn't work and was replaced with a modern one already. Ran the fan power through a light switch and put it in the choke cable hole I wasn't using.
Put a ball valve in the heater hose so I dont have any more unwanted heat in the cab.
Put the trans tunnel down for the last time.
Screwed down the boots for the shifters
Put down some floor mats to combat the floor heat
Mounted and wired the CB
Made an antenna mount and installed the C B antenna
Thinking about a long ride tonight.

Home depot shop vac hose can smash oval enough to fit in the heater and should push on the defrost duct for the windshield. At least they did on my 40 when i ran a rear heater on the firewall. Course its 100 degrees out right now so probably not needed yet.

Sent from my phone using IH8MUD

Got the gauges in in time to find out there was almost no oil pressure. Killed the motor. Swapped in a different short block, but I've been waiting on a part. Started the bed. Got it in filler and high fill primer the last couple of days. Sealer and color tomorrow.

App started working. Now I have pics.

I just sat it on the frame. I have to bolt it down, paint the inside of the tail gate. Put the fuel filler door back on, Mount the gate, and put the tail lights back on. It's easier to get the rear bed bolts off if I drop the lights.

Bout two days including swapping the heads and checking clearances and torque on the bottom end. Lots of room to work in a cruiser

Spent all morning putting new axles and tires on the 5th wheel, but I took time to paint the tailgate.

Sweet! You got gappy axles?

Wow, looks real short (2short?)! Now that it's all one color you can really see it! Bummer on the motor...
