Spent the last few weeks on the pig and the 5th wheel. Tried to pick up the 5th this morning, but it didn't work out so I put in a day on the swb.

Blasted, primed and painted the door latches, window regulators, and fan shroud. Got the broken bolt out of the driver door and got it painted. Primed and painted the wind shield vent I made. Blasted, primed and painted the bumperettes. Got the kick vents repainted. Painted the wind shield latches and hooks. Blasted, primed and painted the little vent deflectors that sit on the ws frame. Painted the trans tunnel too.

I'm not happy with the pewter paint. It came out really thin. The metallic ran on just about every damn part. I'll have to do some sanding and at least a light coat to get the metallic to float.

They sat on top of the fenders on a little three bolt bracket in front of where the coil goes on newer 40's. Not on the radiator shroud.

horn

Sorry I missed you last week in Chicago.

Here is a pic of my daughter installing the horn on my 68'

Pulled the front end off this week to change the timing cover from a plastic vortec one that leaked to a old school metal one. Changed the radiator and installed a shroud as it went back together.

Routed the fuel line a little cleaner than it was while the water pump was out of the way.

Awesome job on the build , and thanks for the link on FB Woody  Always up to read an inspiring build :)

Just read this thread. Hadn't been here in quite some time.

This build is awesome. Very nice work to say the very least. Very vert professional! Hope the final product is as enjoyable as this thread is educational.

Awesome!

Got the bib all back on again today, hopefully for the last time.

Got the pewter pieces repainted before I went home for the day. I'm really disappointed in the coverage of the paint compared to the other three colors of the omni. I turned the air and pot pressure way down and used a 1.4 tip and still had to be really careful of runs. I have six coats on the parts and there are still some coverage issues.

I wish metric tlc could have come up with the powder coat before I got this far. Maybe for the LV.

bummer on that pewter paint experience. I've had good luck with omni coverage in gun metal gray and white but never tried anything in the silver color range.

I don't recall the omni base coat clling for much reducer but maybe try to use less?

Got some door parts put together. The doors shut and latch now. The window glass isn't in yet, but I put the regulators on.

I put it on the hoist today to get the exhaust back on and button up some stuff underneath. Got the running boards installed. When I came out in the shop to leave for the day I though it was worth a pic.

Swapped out the Holley for a quadrajunk today. Need the front bolts from the hardware store, then hopefully it'll run better. I hate Holleys

That took longer than i thought.

Sucks when u have excel add that last column. I have one for my truck as well to keep track of pn's and costs.

Just made a spreadsheet for the costs thus far for the SWB.

It's very scary. Not into 5 figures yet, but getting close.

I figured someone, who's been into this for as long as you have, would know by now NOT to add it up. ;) Still cheaper than therapy...

Nick
