Did you buy it from the insurance company?

No, it never came to that. USAA initially wanted to total the truck. Following a spirited discussion and me providing evidence of the pre-collision value, they finally agreed to pay for repairing the rollover damage. All the rust repairs are on me. :frown:

If I have time to do a quick run thru on it I will. Not real sure about how the carb. will handle the hills:meh: plus Lori is going to come friday and saturday and I hate to be working on the new rig, We'll see!

Yo Jeff, check out the old rustbucket. One mo pic, from Friday at quittin' time. Almost back in one piece. :hillbilly: :beer::beer:

Saw that one too. Looks like a very good buy!

Not a good buy at all. Would not run, frame had a bad patch job, spring hangers on both sides of the rear had been patched drivers was cracked again. Tub had several bad patch jobs. Passenger seat could not be bolted down on the back side due to a huge hole. Transfer case dripping gear oil. This is the short list. But hay, I did get to take my trailer on 1000 mile trip to make sure it is ready for this week:)

Oh my. So sorry to hear that, Todd

Damn man, that sucks. I saw that ad just before you said you were going to get it and I thought that it looked like a nice cruiser and to listen to the seller's ad, it sounded like it was in good running condition. I know he said it needed a little work but . I don't know that I would have been able to compose myself after making that long of a run for nothing. Good attitude on your part.

Are you looking for a turn key rig or something to build?

I looked at the ad again last night. It looks like he came clean a little more on the condition of the 40. He posted pics of more areas of concern.

"Still for sale. Buyer backed out."

As rightly he should have. That thing needs a lot of work. The rust damage is pretty significant. The tub is beat up.

Sorry you had to drive all the way up there, Todd, but you probably saved a lot of money by not following through with it.

Looking for something that has a solid frame, prefer original drive train, or 2f with the 4 speed.Would like to try in stay within the 76-79. Something that needs TLC but not like the one I looked at. A nice rig to drive around town but also do some trails with. I dont mind a doing some body and paint work on it. Not in any kind of hurry. The longer I wait the more $$ I am saving;).

I don't think he knew the frame and spring hangers had been patched. One of the spring patches was already broke. I was trying to figure a way to make it work but there was nothing to work with. I did save a guy from driving from New Jersey to get it. Glad I passed on it.

I've got a very solid 76 that I've been thinking about selling. The body has zero rust is the usual places. Tub has been stripped to bare metal and painted with 2 coats of self edching primer and 2 coats of high build primer. Front doors are solid, rear doors solid, hood solid, etc. No fenders that I would use was going to use metal tech tube fenders. Original 2f, 4spd and disc brake front. I bough with the intentions of cutting it up and making a budget wheeler out of it but the tub is so solid that I could not bring myself to cut it. If your interested pm me and will talk a price.

NICE!!!! Droooool

That's nice except for the fugly back bumper.

so im researching seatbelts for my ICON rear bench seat. do we have any MS laws I should know about? I can't find anything that says I have to have 3 point belts in a 76 vehicle.

im wanting to find a junk yard and pull some lap belts (to secure my daughter's child seat). Then when she is older see about a kids booster or a 4 point system......thoughts?

Saw this in Canton

Don't care for the bling wheels or color coordinated jerry can. Looks solid otherwise.

Caroline Herring's truck?
