Andy I think he sold it. I know the guy by association (from Laurel). He is restoring his 2nd 40 right now. Been trying to get him in CLC. If he hasn't my dad may can pick it up for you

I put 17 gallons of good fuel in it in Canton and some more stabilizer. There is a bit of a stutter in the throttle but overall, it runs great.

Nolen, what fuel stabilizer are you using? Does that stuff work when added to old gas? I thought it had to be added prior to storage.

Sea Foam. Todd is still using it and it is running better and better.

Thanks. I've used Seafoam for years with great results. I misunderstood your post. I thought you were talking about something like Sta-Bil.

Lee,

Sta-Bil makes an additive for ethanol gas that works great. I have used it in my 40, lawn mower and 4 wheeler with great results. Just sayin...

If I am going to put up a motor for a long time like I used to my Go-Devil...when I duck hunted and like I currently do my generator and tiller, I treat the fuel with Sea Foam like they prescribe on the can. Works like a charm.

I don't burn ethanol in anything if I can avoid it. Lawn and outboard have never tasted corn. Cars, more than I wish.

I used seafoam on my 62 several times to clean the injectors. I've not heard of using it as a stabilizers.

Pretty sure I've got a good hood if this one falls through. PM me if you need me to dig it out.;)

Thanks I will keep that in mind. Mine has a dent and crack on the side. I will see if I can bang it out.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm asking because as some of you know, I've been in Oklahoma City since February 2010 dealing with family issues. For the past 18 months my 62 has been sitting in the driveway in Austin with a tank full of gas, now old gas. I'll probably need to drain the tank before running it again. Was hoping there was some miracle additive that would make that step unnecessary.

Greg, unfortunately "real" gas can't be purchased anywhere in or near Austin, or for that matter any major Texas city. It's all ethanol laced crap gas, thanks to good old Uncle Sam. At most Oklahoma stations, there's a choice of real gas or ethanol blend, with 100% gas being about a dime a gallon more. I need to stock up on the Sta-Bil ethanol additive Jeff recommended. Would hate to bugger up all the Cruisers with cornpone gas, which is all we've got.

Here is how I would do it.

Take some Lucas or Stab-il Ethanol Treatment and put it in the tank.

Chase it with a can of Sea Foam.

Peel out.

It really messes up Carbs more than fuel injections from what I have seen.

Thanks. I'll give it the Grogan treatment whenever I make it home. Still in OKC trying to finish rebuilding the 40 before the first blizzard hits. After 6 months of major surgery it's finally looking like a truck again. Hopefully done by turkey day.
