Sea Knight just read the Sill Wars thread....your truck looks great! the Free STate of Jones Tag makes it EVEN BETTER

wanna do mine now?

Shush, google lap belts. They are cheap and should be easy to install.

yeah I got that part, im trying to figure out if there are any laws against a lap belt and not a 3 point system if the vehicle was made before that was standard equipment.

Thank You Sir. And yes, Jones County born and bred. 4th generation. :D

When the 40 registration rolls over in January I'll be switching to a Mississippi antique truck plate, but for sentimental reasons I hate to give up the Jones tag.

Full disclosure--Unfortunately I have absolutely no sheet metal, welding, or painting skills. Most of the work you see in the Sill Wars thread was not done by me. I cut out the cancer and stripped the interior, but all the body work was done by professionals.

Lee

That's all I would be able to do on mine Lee...it looks great.

No rules against lab belt only unless the car came with shoulder belts then you need them. You will be fine.
ok thanks Nolan, that's what was unclear

John, did you mention painting your 40 top at home? Are you doing a rattle can job? If so, what paint and what color?

yes Sir I am. the actual top I have not painted yet but need to find a close match to the original white.

I have painted the rest of the truck with rattle can spruce green by rustoleum. The top "sides and all 4 doors" are in the attic and coming down this afternoon to begin rust/cleaning.

here is the day I bought it, half way through painting, and as she sits now. 20 cans of paint so far.

You could try "white". I bet it will work.

:D

I guess I deserve that one...I meant the cygnus white as the technical type of white did vary some.....but it's not like I have any need for perfection with all my rust and rattle can job.

ill get "white" from lowes for it Lee so that Nolan will be happy:doh:

Good thinking. Incurring Nolen's wrath just isn't worth it.

My fiberglass cap separated from the rain gutter and flew across a median when I rolled the 40. I was able to reattach the gutter and the top looks decent from a distance, but the cap is scratched up and I need to replace the gutter sealant. There's a guy here who will paint a 40 top for $100, but I was thinking of rattlecanning it myself later this Spring. You should paint yours before the 19th so I can check it out.;)

will you be here Nov 19th in Jackson? ill be in laurel for Christmas and may drive it down then.....I hope to have it all painted in the next few weeks. I think Rob Wilder said he has experience with doing fiber glass if you want the roof redone.....he was going to help Lash with his hi speed trailer that has 2 40 tops mated together....crazy stuff.

Yessir, we'll be in Jackson the afternoon and evening of 19 Nov, on official Land Cruiser business. I sent out a few emails about the trip earlier this week...but no one responded. I can take a hint. ;)

On my fiberglass cap, it's not cracked or otherwise damaged. Just scratched and in need of paint.

I am out of town that weekend Lee. I figured one of those other guys that actually liked you might let you stay with them. If not, you can always use my guest house. No need to pay for a hotel.

EDIT...forgot the :flipoff2:

LOL. I figured the comment about being ignored would flush you out of hiding. Appreciate the guest house offer, but we'll be bunking at GT's house this trip. I do want to show my wife your plantation the next time we're in MS. Showed her the pics we took last year and she was awestruck.

Goes without saying that we hope to hook up with any Cottonlanders who happen to be in town that weekend. Dave will be eager to show off his new diesel powered 80.

Sorry we'll miss you and Nolen. There weren't many options for squeezing this trip in before Thanksgiving. I'll probably be back in December and definitely some time in January. May even drive the rebuilt rustbucket.:hillbilly:

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Me! Off in search of BD pancakes...

Lee

Let me guess Shush, You have drill every weekend in Nov??? Good Lord! Didn't think you guys at JFHQ did anything??

My job at JFHQ has nothing to do with weekend drill.....which is the weekend Lee is coming. I'm otherwise free on NOV weekends.
