Well, he may not be interested in it.

No need to measure. In another thread I made, someone pointed out that the part number 56111 indicates that is was originally for a 1980-1986 spec. BJ/FJ40.

Will it fit a frame from another year? If not, I may have a hell of a time selling it, seeing as there aren't a whole lot of people looking for one. :(

yep I'm not your guy Andrew...

There's a windshield forsale on Atlanta Craigslist for 100.00
Not sure if it was an aftermarket or oem. Last time I did my Craigslist rounds today it was still there.

Have any of you ms guys checked out the hardtop or doors that are up on Craigslist. I emailed the owner but the distance killed it for me. Seemed like a nice owner.

I have an OEM windshield that is still in the factory wrapper and foam. How much should I ask for it?

I may be your buyer. The application listed for your Toyota part no. is 5/81-12/84 FJ/BJ 40's. I have an '82 (12/81), and I need a windshield. My local auto glass shop wants $70 to cut one, but I'd prefer one with the Toyota etching. How much do you want for it? $100? I'll be in Mississippi later this week, should be around for several days, so shipping wouldn't be necessary.

56111 is not a part number but a PNC: Part Number Code or Part Number Category.

All Toyota windshields start with 56111-XXXXX. The last 5 digits indicate application and supplier (either Nippon Safety Glass or Asahi Glass Corporation for Japanese manufacture Land Cruisers).

56111-90800 is for non-US Australian application FJ/BJ iterations from the last years of manufacture--through the end of 47 production.

The US market FJ4X vehicles from 1/1975-EOP can use the only available windshield part number: 56111-90303 which is widely available from any Toyota dealer.

Excellent post, Beno. Thank you. So, just to be sure--though this was/is an AUS market windshield, you are saying that it will not fit ANY US spec. 40 series?

Correct. Australia/Oceania market. It does not show for any other market with my antiquated fiche reader that I use.

Whether it fits US applications? That I do not know since I have never had my grubby hands on a RHD Australian market 4x. Sorry.

I can't believe Toyota built different windshield frames for different markets.

Yeah, it has me wondering if they are the same frames, but with different part numbers. Would't be the first time Toyota did that. I need to find someone with US spec glass and get some measurements from them and do some comparisons.

I have a very ugly '79 windshield frame in my attic. Why don't you bring the glass by and let's test fit it without a gasket. If it fits the opening with an acceptable gap for the gasket, then it should be a '75+ windshield. Let me know.

Just turn the windshield around. It'll fit...

To clarify: If one wanted, one could get 56111-90800 in the US market (for some odd reason). So there must have been some application in North America during that time period that necessitated having that part live and available (I would make a WAG and say it was for the mine market).

I found this:

The 56111-90800 is for up to Jan '75 production. The 56111-90303 is for Jan '75-up. IIRC the windshield frames are different and the glass is a bit shorter in the earlier version.

What do you think, Onur?

Somewhere in the disaster that is my garage, I have a template that's supposedly for a '75-'84 FJ40 windshield. If I can find it before I leave for MS, I'll bring it for comparison.

Interesting, and confusing....based on Beno's info, I'd guess this is for non-US models?

They used to sell those for $100 at Toyota Dallas. The packaging was worth more

Out of curiosity, I just checked my stash of receipts. I bought 2 FJ40 windshields from the local Toyota dealer, in late 2007. My jobber price was $54, each, including shipping to the dealer. As Nolen said, they came in huge cardboard containers, packed with Styrofoam bumpers. I could barely get the two of them in the back of my 80.

Ok, I think I settled this.

I called Specter Off Road this morning. I told the guy the confusion I was having about the glass.

He told me:

1.) Yes, they (SOR) sold that glass.
2.) There is a TYPO in the SOR sticker. Instead of saying 120-02B-TINT, it should say 120-02C-TINT.
3.) The windshield will fit a February 1975 and up US spec. 4x series. This was my original thought, because of the tinting at the top edge. This would also explain why the PO never installed it on my 1968.
4.) He also told me that it was worth about $600 to a collector.
