I have a bad poppin noise going on in me rear end on my 40. It does it worse when it's above 35-40 mph and I slow down and then accelerate. It will go pop, pop, pop pop then it goes away? Or it will be going fine then pop a couple of times. It will also will make the rear end tweak to one side every time it pops. Thought maybe a u joint but no slack in the driveshaft. Thought it was a broke spring or hanger, all good. Antiwarp bar is also fine. So I'm thinking its something internal. Like locker messed up or pinion gear stripped a tooth? Any thoughts? I'm going to drain the fluid and see if I have chunks of metal in it.

I think that it is a lunchbox. Bomar was telling me it sounds like that too. Been thinking about taking the project 40 axels and putting them on mine anyway. Then I will have ARBs with full floater rear and 60 series axels. Just need time and a shop:bang:

Is anybody running a Holley Projection 2D ...do you have to tweak on the damn thing constantly? Good thing the PO mounted it under the front seat.

Is it on a GM or 2F motor?

I've heard more headaches than success stories with it. It doesn't have enough sensors and control to run closed loop, so you have to constantly fiddle with it.

No personal experience though.

Edit: it looks like there is a closed loop kit to add an O2 sensor. $18 at Jegs, plus the cost of the O2 sensor.

That would probably help some, if you aren't already running this.

has an exhaust gas sensor, not sure about the O2....old school 350..

Have locked 80 PMed and ready, want 40, trade???

I'm trying to steer a couple of 40 owners your way and I can't find where Rob did the work.

Why don't you get all this into a coherent for dale thread.

Solved the mystery on Matt's 40. Had 2 good cylinders and 4 cylinders with 25psi or less wet or dry.
