have u recieved ur rig yet, was it as described, any issues with the dealer/process?

several of those rigs were on Ebay Austraulia just last week or the week before, and were going for quite a bit less (note, I am not talking about thousands of dollars here, but a markup, as you would expect for this type of service). They are also asking to make spme bucks on their origin & shipping fees. Again, though not gouging or anything, just a markup, as you'd expect.

It is likely worth it if you have no other options, or want the simple, everything is handled for you approach. But you could save money if you are willing to go more of the DIY route on the entire transaction. But, that route does put a lot of risk on the DIY buyer, and a lot of extra work. There is something to be said for hiring a competent person to do it for you if you can afford it.

Thanks for the post and the plug Ron.

We actually have 3 or 4 BJ40/42's in Washington, there is a Troopie on the water and a few ready to go.

gr8ful - really? Quiet a bit less? I would say a little less, we have already spent time and money on each one and we are covering our costs.

We have been in the shipping industry for over 12 years and have shipped over 200 containers between the USA and Australia. I beg to differ that you would save a lot of money going to DIY route. In actual fact I think you would put a lot of time and effort into it and probably spend more. $3250 is a good rate for half a 40' container from AUS to USA.

We have shipped many BJ and HJ Land Cruisers to the USA. This is one we shipped in a few years back. I am sure there are others on this forum as well.

Merry Christmas to all!

Sorry Aus,
Did not realize you were a mud member, and I was trying to protect people that might not have a lot of experience in this realm. I'll retract my statement & revise the above in a second. I didn't mean to imply that you were overcharging in any way. Just that people that have the ability & desire to do it themselves can save on a lot of fees. I also didn't realize your rates are container freight. Definitely a step up in both overall cost & service/protection to the vehicle with that route, so it makes sense. I was assuming these were going via Roro, since most people go that route.

I apologize for speaking, "out of turn" before having all the facts.

Best,
Abe

1tontoy - thanks. I am sure we have an account on here before as we have shipped vehicles for members before.

I forgot to mention CJ8's we have shipped a few of them back from Aus to the USA.

Abe, as above but Ron, our latest client shot us a message saying he put a post up for us. Frankly we are so busy that it is always on my list but I never seem to get to it so we just keep accumulating Land Cruisers! Oh I forgot to mention we purchased another Troopie today, probably won't make it on the website until next year.

We are a complete service from start to finish in both directions AUStoUSA and USAtoAUS. We will end up shipping 54 containers by the end of the year for 2012. We are in business so people don't get ripped off and that is why we are so busy. We own and run our facilities and operations in both countries and we are a WA, USA based business so clients would actually be dealing with a US company for added protection.

Cheers

Welcome to mud, very welcome!! You will do alot of business here if you indeed bring troopys in without drama! I actually inquired about one on your site about a year ago and the communication was good, but I was still a little skeptical, but now that you are on here,I think you will do well.I live close to Ron,so I will see the troopy! What are the logistics with bringing in a container of parts!!

Cheers,

Whitey

Thanks Whitey! We can ship parts, it doesn't need to be by the container load, they can go in the containers we already ship for a good rate.

These are very cool and I'd love to get my hands on one some day, just gotta find some money! :D

$10k out the door and delivered is a great deal for a 45, thou temptest me to sell my 40 for one of these...

Any plans to import hj61s? I'd love cable lockers, high roof, and a 12ht.

Max.Powerzz, we can import anything that is legal. The HJ61 was released mid 1987 so the 1987 models are legal to import. I would have to double check on the 1988 models.

Shipping

AUStoUSA, I did not catch were you are shipping from as in what port (s) and were to. Seattle and L.A. is were I had a few arrive.
I have been looking for parts in AUS for a few HJ-FJ projects on Ebay and such with good results its just getting the parts to port. You folks work with the buyer in parts pick up within reason of course? That's half the battle for us US buyers is getting the items to port then shipped.
Thanks

The biggest problem is the small number of containers that actually head over to the USA from AUS. We ship from Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney - maybe 2-4/year from BRI, 1/18 months from FRE, 2/year MEL and 1/year from SYD. As the business is more geared the other direction (USAtoAUS) we don't have a lot of warehouse space for parts in most ports. Limited in FRE/MEL, none in SYD.

Sometimes we will ship more, the above numbers are self driven containers - us shipping packing material and vehicles for ourselves. If a client comes along wanting a vehicle shipped then we will arrange a container as soon as possible. We shipped one out of BRI in early December and we are packing another this week with another planned about 4 weeks after that. So as you can see it is a hard to predict when the next container is leaving.

So if we were going to ship parts they probably would have to come to BRI and you would have to be patient in getting them. We can ship at very affordable rates. All containers ship to Portland, Oregon. We have a full warehouse there that can manage overland US transport, packaging, loading etc.

Cheers!
