Whew. Found the last door handle.

I couldn't find it anywhere. I was getting pretty worried I'd had to find it some place.

Spent last Saturday trying to get the windshield to fit. I made the template a little big because I didn't have the old glass or the gasket. I sanded the glass down with a belt sander to fit. Took about 5 hours with all the breaks I had to take when the glass got hot.

cracked going in.

Other than that things are moving along slowly.

Cleaning up some little imperfections in the rockers this weekend and found a soft spot so I cut out a chunk on the bottom of the right front rocker and welded in new.

Still working on repairing some overly aggressive grinder work on the RR door ribs too.

Went to a pick and pull yesterday and finally scored my front wiring harness from a 1fz. Finally the coil, igniter and alternator can be wired in with the correct plugs.

Picked up a 80 series trans cooler too, and a instrument cluster that hopefully I can do something with.

Yep. Good progress on all four trucks.

The pig got the wheel studs that all sheared off last Saturday replaced.

The SWB got rear disks. Found a carpet kit for it and got that coming.

The LV got a fuel pump installed and plumbed. The fuel pump relay got wired up. I found a brake light switch that looks like it'll work. Installed the rear sway bar. Ordered the radiator, fuel pump resistor, air intake tube, and fuel hose to the filter. Dropped the extended range fuel tank and installed nipples for the feed and return lines and hooked up the sending unit. Made some reinforcement straps for the bottom, primed and painted them and reinstalled the tank. Ordered a 93 exhaust manifold so I can put the O2 sensor in the PAIR valve hole to make exhaust fab easier.

And the Tundra got a front license plate holder that clips to the winch fairlead on the new Fab Fours front bumper.

Working on four trucks, man I struggle finding time for one! :clap:Good to here they are coming along, wish mine was going a bit faster.

Didn't have much motivation today.

Finished plumbing the brakes and the fuel feed and return. Wired the fuel pump and the fuel pump resistor.

Wired up the brake light switch and tried to diagnose the turn signal switch.

Went to put the rims on the SWB and found I have two drum brake rims.

Went home and polished the bikes instead.

Radiator stock shroud with Taurus fan on the inside. aluminum 40 radiator with a bulkhead connector on the upper tank for the 4.5L bypass hose. 80 trans cooler on the other side of the stock radiator mounting frame.

Great read Gumby. :)

Lots of great ideas that I like. Your build seems very similar to what I have in mind - stock look and feel but updated for daily drivability. I like your choice to stay with a Toyota I6 (I'm thinking of a 2FE for mine at this stage). Love your choice to go with the dash mounted shift lever

Your grey lower body colour looks very similar to what we have on our 76 series wagon. It may have a slightly darker tint with a bit more metallic. I think it is called "graphite" and I fell in love with it when toyota first brought that colour out. I've been toying with the idea of doing a 40 in that colour - maybe seeing how yours looks when it is all done will finally make up my mind :D

Keep up the great work.:)

Thanks, lupdog.

Hooked up the last few wires to the PCM today. Wired the EFI relay. Chased a few other things down. If you do this swap its really important to get all four wiring harnesses from the same year truck. I have a 97 motor with the 97 harness and a 94 cowl harness and a 95 left fender harness. It takes some work, especially the IH1 connector which is all different colors.

Found the problem with the starter. The wires on either side of the n/s were switched at IH1. Got it to crank. Pretty exciting.

Hooked up a noid light to an injector and got a flash, so I gave it a squirt of starting fluid to check for spark and it fired!

Hooked up the wires to the fuel pump, but the circuit opening relay isn't. When I jumper it the fuel pump hums, so tomorrow it gets fuel in the tank.

I also put some tires back on it after having to swap rims when I put the drums on the LV and the disks on the SWB and I installed the 93 front exhaust manifold I had bought and blasted. The O2 fits right where the PAIR valves went on the earlier motor so I can keep it out of the lower part of the exhaust.

No cats. The 97 PCM is only looking for one upstream sensor. I'll use an emulator for the downstream. It takes the upstream signal and reduces it before it sends it back. Exactly what the PCM is looking for.
Is this the same for a 96? i ask because i would like to remove my cats from a 96.
