Man, that does look good. What paint did you use, anything speical. I'll be doing the same, this Spring. I was going to tint a bedliner and spray over the Lizard Skin, but maybe not.

Productive day thanks to Martin Luther King.

Powdercoated the rear seat stops and the door stops. The seat stops in my custom pewter mix and the door stops in the darker silver vein.

Installed all the body mounts.

Looked at the shifter situation. The trans shifter is way too close to the drivers seat. I have another transfer case shifter from a a440 that might work to put the shifters in line with each other like a mini truck. It wouldn't have a lock out though, just the trans detents. The shifter lever at the trans came in the mail today so I'll have a better idea tomorrow.

Rear window seals came today too. I decided there really isn't a lot between painting the window jams and just finishing the white so I blocked down the top half of the body and painted white all the way down to where I can feather it for the color change. Now I can mask from the color line up and not have to worry about masking window rubber. That never comes out right for me. I can also put in door handles.

Touched up the interior. It should be ready for seats and stuff next week. I was thinking about making a headliner, but it looks like the material will only be a little cheaper than the SOR kit, so I'll just buy it.

Painted lizardskin on the inside of the doors where the reflectix didn't cover.

Put one of the doors together with the glass, latches, handles and door panel. Looks good with the white. Installed the spare tire carrier too.

I was too tired for pics. I'll edit tomorrow.

The transfer case shifter works pretty good for the trans. One shifter down.

It sucks I spent so much time trying to get the 80 shifter to work, but what else is time good for if you can't spend it trying to figure out things on an old cruiser?

Back seat is back in. Looks good with the door panel.

Really nice looking. If you don't mind, what type of seats did you use. I'm guessing you had them redone to match everything.

Thanks, Ron

The PO had the back seat and the door cards covered to match a 3rd gen 4runner oak colored seat, then he had the seat mounts built to fit the 4runner seats.

Had a power steering pressure line made. I was thinking a 11/16 inverted flare to banjo, but the hose guy said it would be easier and cheaper to put a 14mm to JIS adapter in the pump and then go JIS to rubber to metal to 11/16 flare. Fits great.

A few hours in the shop this morning.

Took the left fender off.

Tied down the power steering pressure and return lines. Ran a piece of braided where the return line will go. I'll replace it with rubber.
Ran the front brake line from the master to the axle and the lines on the axle.
Cut the steering column off the the firewall rib where it had been welded and moved the steering wheel a few inches toward the dash. I had separated the upper joint years ago to take the body off the frame. I cut the shaft down to the new length and replaced the ujoint with a new one. Built a little stand for the support bearing and got it all welded up.
Took the old throttle cable out and replaced it with the 1FZ cable and spent some time mocking up the throttle pedal. I think I have it all bent the right way.
Cut down a transfer case shifter lever and drilled out the end to fit over the shifter to make it look and feel more like a transmission shifter. I need to get a nice new drill bit the right size to tap it for the 80 series transfer shifter.

Felt like a productive day.

Shifter parts came in yesterday (Thanks, Jack!)

The hole in the firewall for the linkage to stick through has a washer welded in place so I have to ream that back out, but the holes for the upper pivot bracket are all still there so we got that bolted up.

I'll have to make a bracket for the lower pivot to pivot from since a A343 doesn't have the hole in the bellhousing.

It looks like one of the linkages from the 4 speed shifter Jack sent along with is about 4" too short to reach the transfer shifter, so a little sleeve in the middle ought to get me shifting.

I think it'll be a cool solution. I like the dash levers.

edit - There is a bolt hole in the bellhousing in exactly the right place and exactly the right thread for the pivot bolt. I had to flip the pivot to get it to push into high instead of pull and add 4 inches to the shift rod.

The pivot and the upper bracket are in the powdercoating oven and the rods are drying from having been painted. Off to sand blast the lever and lever bracket now.

Right front door all put together
Rear glass is in. I put the gaskets in both ways and don't like either. I guess I'll have to pick one.
Put in the trans tunnel with the gasket. Had to adjust the shift linkage a bit to get it to clear. Got to rebuild the top plate where the shifter sticks through.
