Does anyone make sliders for FJ80's? Seems like the only sliders available are for 93+ FZJ's.
I think the only difference between the fj and fzj that would be affected is the cats and exhaust, but if you decat your truck it should work

It is decatted. Looking at the FZJ sliders it seems like they all have that goofy boat anchor to get around their cats. I guess I could mod a set to work for ours, but then I might as well build them from scratch. I might end up doing that anyway, just seeing what is available.

Edit: Found some, although they do have the cat skid. 80 Series Rock Sliders: Landcruiser 80 Series Rock Sliders

Honestly, I don't think you could buy a pre-made slider that would work as well as a custom one. The idea of the pre-made stuff is so people can just bolt it on during a weekend, and for stuff like bumpers that's fine. Sliders need to support the weight of the vehicle though, and U-bolts going around the frame aren't as strong as welding directly to the frame. When I need sliders, I'm just going to make them myself. Great project to get started with, too.

totaled and ready to wheel

My plans r 2 make a wheeler out of it. I'm no stranger to the 80's but have had a fzj for the last year now. I'm looking forward to its older brother with less electronics and censors. I still had my wheels from my 96 so for now that's what im rolling. I had to zip tie the grill on and am getting new lights soon.:hillbilly:

Crazy that that is considered "totaled"... Is there frame damage we can't see?

Is that a factory roof rack, too?

Ya the frame has alittle tweak to it. It drives straight but bent the steering arm. So I ordered t/g kit off the Bay. You can kinda see it if you look really close to the drivers side frame rail.

Yep that's what I was thinkin. I bought it thinking I was going to do a buggy rig. But my friend reminded me we live in Washington state and buggy can be very cold and I love 80's as family offroad rig.

Please don't buggy it. I mean, it's your 80 to do with what you want but man I hate seeing them chopped.

Recently joined the 3F-E FJ80 party. Here's my '91. Bone stock with 197k on the od when I picked it up this summer.

So far I've given it a full tune up (runs much better!), new brakes in the front, front hub seals, 16x7 '04 4Runner wheels, 255/85 Maxxis Bighorns, Spidertrax 1.5" spacers, new window regulator, a little exhaust shield welding, and a thrown together 4130 chromoly roof rack.

The 3F-E is my style, fits well with my ever growing collection of vehicles. Simple, reliable, bulletproof, and won't lose value.

I found this in my shed today it was off a FJ40 I had last year. I wanted to know if any of you 3fe guys had any experience with electric fans? I'm going to do a body lift and would like to delete the clutch fan all together. Any thoughts about tracking down a wiring kit for dummies for this thing I've never done a electric fan before? If anyone has pictures of how you mounted yours that would be great to or a link. Thanks

Did you pick it up in Wyoming? I was looking at that one too. Seemed liked a good rig.

That's awesome! Congrats to you.

Happy a mudder picked it up!

Which is the new one?
