Wilson, what rims did you go with?

325/80/16....man I like that size. No need for new wheels.

So, if you go with this tire on stock wheels and 2.5" OME, you need bumpstop extensions and 1" spacers all around?

Picked up the tires/ wheels from Booger Weldz. They are an allied beadlock. I'll get all of the specs soon, I need to order a spare for the spare km2 that should be here soon. I was going to stay 16 until he put the combo for sale, I couldn't pass them up. I'm not running spacers and the rear bumps would have been fine for articulation, but the tire would have hit the flares on vertical travel.

I have never seen one in this size...did not even know the size existed. My supplier here said there were none in the system right now. I was going to do Blue Krawlers in 37" but that means wheels. I don't like aftermarket wheels on an 80 for some reason.

That Cooper is wide too....isn't it? It looks wide even though it is an 80.

Cooper Tires - Discoverer STT - On/Off-Road Tires

There is a link to the tire... They are an expensive bastard tire...

They are really quite narrow compared to most 37s that people run. I am sure that MemphisACC can put a ruler on them when he gets a spare moment.

According to Cooper's site the 325/80R16 has a section width of 13.1" and a tread width of 10.8" on a 9" wide wheel. That is very close inline to what I see with the tire mounted. Though we are using narrower OEM LX450 wheels. They seem pretty skinny to me compared to what the Jeep and Bronco guys run...

I don't know why I even look at those charts...they are always wrong. That said, the section width thing usually is more accurate than the height.

KM2's come in 345/75/16 which look to be the same size as the Coopers in height and .5" wider.

I just mounted a set of 345x75R16 KM2s on 80 series steelies that I got from Dan and Beno. Sweet looking combo. I have a way to go before they make it under the truck though.

Will you post up some measurements?

What happened to the Pit Bull Rockers Curran?

Availability and price. I had my heart set on the Rocker Radial in 37x12.5x17 and couldn't find a reasonable deal once shipping was considered. I got the KM2s for about $70 less per tire.

Back when I was single I wouldn't even think twice about a Cruiser related purchase. It's a different situation now. I hardly have a budget to maintain the 80 let alone think of upgrades. I needed new tires and convinced my wife that the KM2s were a rather reasonable/conservative tire for a truck with 6" of lift.

Hastily measured in the rain:
Diameter: 36 3/8"
Section width: 13 1/4"
Tread width: 10 5/8"
(mounted on 16x8" rims at 40 psi)

Re: Rockers (I know it's too late)
Did you cal 4ws.com? When I bought the 42's on my buggy they blew everyione out of the water. You do have to call though, the online price si slightly higher. I got (5) 42 R17's to my door for under $1900

4WS.com did have a great price, but they did not have any 37s in stock.

Sorry I deleted the post quickly because I didn't know if it was you from a past thread about the PB Rockers, and I should have trusted my memory! I'm sad to hear availability is limited. Seems the Denman bankruptcy had a ripple effect on everyone, not just TSL. KM2's sound great man! Post some pics when you get them on

quick question Where's a good place to get some wheel spacers at a good price? Seems like 1.5" spacers seem to be about the best fit from the sounds of it. I just got me some 17" FJ wheels and ordered me some 37" Cooper SSTs because the KM2's seemed to be on back order and almost another $100 each. Running a 2.5" OME with no body lift. May have to get some spring spacers but we'll get them tires on first.

Just got the HG done on my $500 locked 80. I decided to go with cooper 325/80/16s and OME medium rear/heavy fronts. I also deflared and bedlined it while I was waiting on a donor head. I tried 1" wheel spacers, but that put my front tires into the fenders pretty hard. I have wheeled it pretty hard in the rocks without spacers and it just barely rubbed the inside rear fenderwell and just touches the front control arms at full lock. Power with stock gears on the road is fine, but I am wanting 5.29s for the rocks to save my tranny. Otherwise works really well.

im running Js and 1 .5 inch spacer up front with Ls and i rubbed on the front inner fender so trimmed that out rear clears fine and im running bumpstop spacers, 17 x8 4.25 bs eagle alloys with goodyear mtr2s, i dont see how running just 2.5 inches you wouldnt have to trim the same spot i trimmed, street driving u might be ok also had to trim the rear most exhaust of,f the tire rubbed it

stock bump stops on the front. The rear bumpstops have fallen off, so no rear bumpstops till I figure exapcly what I need. I was very surprised how little the tires rubbed as is. When I took it out on its maiden voyage in the rocks the other night I was expecting serious rubbing. I was very surprised as it rubbed so little I couldnt even hear it. I thought I might have to trim up the front, but without the spacers it rubs so little up front I think I will leave it be.

Reposted from my 345/75/16 thread.

Well I finally got my 4" rear spacers from Man-a-Fre. They were on backorder. 4+ stuff is the best, but the guy who makes it is on his own time clock.

Anyway, in prep for the final "rub test" I took the rear mudflaps off and trimmed the inside of them and cut the "flap" portion off right under the bulge. I keep the clean, finished look, but take away the part that always gets backed over. When you back over the mudflap on a rock it tends to yank the flap and the fender flare clean off the truck.

I have done it twice on other 80s so lesson learned...

I have a nice V ditch on the road in front of my house. I have found these things test out the flex best over a ramp. It will full stuff the front and rear at the same time and if it is deep/steep enough, you can carry the opposing tires. (that is if the truck wont full flex out)

My 80 is no ramp champ. I have regular length OME shocks and the swaybars attached. It sees mainly road use and I am building it for mild family wheeling and Moab type overnights so I am not looking for a rock machine. With dual lockers, carrying a tire is not that big of a deal anyway.

On to the pictures.

Driver's side rear tucks in perfectly and the 4" bumps make it all work just right. Nothing touches but the inside of the tire on the upper inner wheelwell. That is great as it is a nice flat, smooth surface and it can rub all day long and won't hurt anything.

1/2" to spare on the rear flaps

Tire fits like a glove

Fronts are about the same, they have a bit more room than the rears

NOT a ramp queen for sure

The passenger side rubs some on the rear. Not sure why it rubs and the drivers does not. I took 3 or 4 runs at the ditch and it was the same each time.

You can see the rub on the passenger rear hear. Not much I can do about it. Hope I don't rip s*** off.

turn your front tires to lock and check how bad the front rubs when u flex it on the ditch next time

Panhard rods? Thats probably why it is rubbing....the body is not completely centered over suspension

x2 on the panhard rods..When you lift the truck the axle shifts over slightly to one side so you would tend to get some potential rubbing on one side with the wider the tire..
