Hey Guys I am curious who is running 37s on there 60s and how they like them and also what drive train and gearing are you running. thanks!

Hey pumpkin.

4.56's not enough for your 37's?

Ran 37 MTR's for years, 4.56 gears and no overdrive. Really a good combo for my rig, but it was primarily a trail rig so the lack of over drive wasn't that bad. Currently I'm running 38.5 boggers, I thought my rig was unstoppable before now it's point and shoot. I'm looking at hydro assist steering the Boggers are a handful.

My combo is 2F, sm456 tranny 203 gear box split case, 4.56 Elocker front detroiot rear and sprung over

Have 37 creepy crawlers with 4.11 gearing and 4 speed manual powered by the 3fe engine. The 3fe was not strong enough for my liking but wasn't bad, you just need to build up the momentum to hit 70mph. MPG was around 10. Currently converting it to a 4BTA Cummins with a NV4500 5 speed. Not sure if I will regear yet, but it should improve mpg and power either way. Will let you know when it's done.

really and truly on an FJ60 with stock trans and 37's 4.88 would be pretty much the same as stock. The engine would not play much role other than a low rpm spinning Diesel such as a 4bt or 6bt that redline at 3200rpm in stock form. If equipped with something of that nature a 4.56 or 4.11 would be a better option, these higher gear ratios work because the engine produces enough low end torque to move the vehicle and the higher gearing allows for highway driving without being 3/4 the way to redline. A SBC would be very happy with the same gearing that would be used with a stock 2F.

In my experience my 84 FJ60 35's and 4.56's with 2F and stock H42 4 speed and stock split case transfer case my spedo was EXACTLY dead on with my GPS.

A friend had a FJ62 on 33's 4.88's stock 3fe stock A440 and stock split case and his was only ever so slightly lower than stock gearing (after torque converter locked up on the freeway) and worked really well all around.

im on 37s with a 4.8 vortec 4l60e and 4.11s. i dont like it. i need to regear down a step. on the freeway but it dosent shift into overdrive till about 60 so in order to get the best mpg i got to cruise close to 80 and a big red 60 sticks out like a sore thumb.

In my 1988 62 I am running 37" BFG military's bajas with stock motor, h55 5 speed and 4.88s. I love the set up but I am not going to win any races of the line. Does well off road. Building a 60 with a 6.0 and 4.88 gears which should be ready soon. Ed

37" toyos with 4.88 and an auto with upgrades, 12H-T

was SOA going links to get it lower.

no issues, but would always like more power.

Since we're on the subject and this isn't meant as a hijack , but has anyone been able to mount 37 inch military tires on a 60 or 62? I can't find wheels that fit the Toyota lug nut pattern.

thanks guys! I was just mostly curious of what everyone else is running, I dont have any problems with power or anything at all. my only problem is the tire likes to stuff into the front corner of the front fender and was actually curious if one of you guys will post pics of how you cut it and boxed it. I want to see some done so I can get an idea of some clean line cuts for mine. thanks guys!

its just a chevy 6 lug pattern in 16.5 for the wheel right? And uglyoinker above found a place that cuts out and welds in 6 lug patterns into the H1 wheels. hopefully he will correct me if I am wrong

hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will do exactly that, cut and box the front corners to make a set of 39.5" iroks fit... I will keep you updated as it's pretty tight in there already. This is with 37" at full stuff and a 2" body lift. some trimming is going to be needed!

Sick Toyo's....

I ran my 37x13.50r15 Pitbull Rockers with an H55 and 4.11 differentials. With the 2F, she was slow, but worked perfectly fine.

Here's the way mine sits right now. What do you guys think can I go larger without having to alter anything?
