Hello All!
Getting very excited for this years pilgrimage. To add to the fun, I was wondering if people were interested in setting aside some time to have a Parts swap/sale. I've rented a cabin inside Windrock Park and would be happy to "host" with the space to meet and some tasty beverages. I'm not really in the parts business, but have parts I'd like to sell to clear some space. My guess is that most of us have stuff we'd like to buy/sell. If people are interested, maybe we can start a separate thread with people's wtb/wts. Would save a few shekels on shipping, especially the bigger/heavier items.

A little more than 2 months away ...... Mark your calendars.

@elkaholic ......I have arranged for a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn in Oak Ridge, TN for the Thursday - Saturday nights (Sept 22 - 24). All this does is hold a block for each of us to reserve. You will need to call the hotel directly to reserve the rooms at(865) 481-8200 and ask for the group name : SE 70 Series (catchy, eh?). Rates are $70 plus tax per night for double bed rooms. There are a few (very few) King rooms available at a higher cost. I may be able to add rooms to the group if necessary. The difficulty comes in the fact that we chose wisely for avoiding other LC events nearby and ATV events at Widrock Park. When it comes to home games for UT football ... not so much - the Vols play the gators in Knoxville that weekend. If you call and the block is full, send me a PM and I'll see if I can get more rooms added. Or use the WindRock ATV Rate.

The Comfort Inn is centrally located right next to Wal Mart and welcomes visitors to Windrock. There are restaurants and other hotels nearby.
Google Maps

The hotel is 9.7 miles from the main parking lot at Windrock Park.

For those that want to camp, Windrock Park has a good campground with tent sites, cabins, and RV sites. I have not stayed there but those I have spoken to say it is nice. I have not booked anything there, but would suggest that those wishing to camp get reservations soon. Campground info Campground - Windrock Park

Hey Chris
I think this is a good idea. Maybe we can post up what we have to see if there is any interest. This would save us from dragging stuff down that nobody wants.
Just a thought.
Peter

Hi 70 series crew, quick question,

I know this is a "70 series" meet up, but I may have a chance to get out in the woods around this time. Would it be awful if a 40 series or 2 showed up? I know we burn gasoline and all...

:)

Cheers, Joel

PS, I know chris Spaulding, great guy!

We had a few 40, 55, and 60 Series join us last year. They weren't allowed to sit at the cool table but they were welcomed none the less. : )

I haven't ever sat at the cool table, where is that? :hillbilly::beer:

I also hang out with LDowney once a year, and I know he's in the middle seat of the cool table!

I may have made up that part about the "cool table." If someone brings a 75 Series Ute, we'll at least have a tailgate.

Joel, :D I never knew that the enginerd table was the cool table before. If I get a kitchen pass to attend, it will be great to break our record and run with you twice in a year (GSMTR and the Gathering).

Let me get this straight, you want to bring a Cruiser other than a 70 Series that has an engine other than a diesel. This decision will require a meeting of the board. Perhaps Larry can serve as a character witness. :)

I thought the Mississippi fellow's truck had a 3F petrol powered engine?
Kerry (FJ75) had a special exemption. (Page 3, paragraph 5, subsection 2 of the rules book). :)

This discussion appears to be in a True Grit rut, but who is playing what role? If it matters in the least ...

Ned Pepper: I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man.

Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hand, you son of a bitch!

You all know I'm joking, hard to compete with the torque of a diesel. My F engine has some grunt, but it ain't a 1HZ

I don't have any experience with a 1HZ, but I have wheeled with 2F and 3B powered Cruisers. They both have strengths and weaknesses in their behavior. I find it is up to me to understand these differences and adjust my driving to align with the strengths of the engine that is providing the power.

i.e. No apologies needed for differences between Land Cruisers

While the 70 Series was well represented last year and that is certainly the goal again this year, a little variety can't hurt. If I remember correctly we had at least one 40, 55, 60, & 80 Series present last year.

Bring it. We had a few lesser trucks at last year's event as well ;)

In all seriousness, we will be glad to have you
