Oh f** me ! I did not know the GX550 did not have the upper AC 2 and 3 rd rows AC vents either ! LOL. Oh well, let's see what the prices are for the LC250.... Suddendly my old fat girl is making more sense to keep with her gusty appetite but AC vents everywhere, sliding 2 row seats, tank feeling, old but trusted V8, etc etc.... 🫣😂

OK, one last before I leave. I was explaining someone today about the new releaase, actually watching it while she gave me a ride back home as I left my Shelby for a ceramic treatment. I was explaining the new LC250 and when telling her about the hybrid, she asked really good questions... and got me to think: How is Toyota isolating the hybrid batteries in these off road vehicles? What would happen if you have to cross rivers and water and such...? I really want to move into the new technology, I do ! But cannot stop to wonder...

The battery should be completely waterproof. Toyota's been doing this a long time. One example I know of they used an electric converted Land Cruiser across 100 miles of water. Under water. Like divers in scuba gear 100 feet under water driving it. No issues with electric drive. I don't think it's a big risk.

Thank you !

Yeah, basically T4R 4th and 5th gen, or GX / Prado pre gens. I know, maybe stupid for some, but the upper vents for the LC200 2 and 3rd rows, are VERY useful for us. I know, my kids and doggo are spoiled ! LOL
I get it - rear vents are important for rear people

I'm excited to finally be able to talk about this neat platform. It’s been an extremely busy few days with this LC project and before that with the GX550. I need to drive my FJ40 around for a few minutes and reset my brain so I can put words together.

Short answer, I give it two thumbs up.

Its OK...

Pros
Rear and Center lock on base
MPG's on paper.
Looks good

Question marks
Storage area, better design than the Sequoia but still reduced over the GX
Small tires and it doesn't look like you can go much large than a 33
Price on paper, Feels high,

The engine and the cargo capacity in the GX make more sense but the GX's price point push directly into a F150 Raptor or Maybe the TRD Tundra. I like the 1958/Base, and could see optioning the TTV6 for 3 grand.. Will have to drive both to see how they feel once they hit the lots.

At this moment, I would be most interested in a sequoia with an updated cargo area/removable 3rd row.

Lets see what the 4Runner and Y63 look like.

In all seriousness, the LC 250 seems to have hit the mark esp if they are targeting the Overlanding crew.

6000 lb towing with 27ish MPG for a full-time 4wd system is respectable. The hybrid+off-roading setup produces a respectable amount of torque+capability to get most common folks into trouble esp if they are new to 4x4/overlanding. I wouldn't expect any higher towing numbers because the hybrid setup has an electric motor inline w/ the driveshaft (Ford has an electric motor within the AT...talk about an overly complex headache). The motor's draw will only allow so much torque to be produced for a short period of time...I'm not sure how the system regenerates but that's a question for another time.

The 2400 watt inverter is a very nice touch. For those who need a reference point, you can run a TV, DVD, satellite, fridge, coffee pot, etc. You could also run some smaller AC Units but may need to run a parallel setup (assuming that is possible).

I can understand why the GX went with the V6TT setup. Most of the Lexus owners aren't your Overlanding folks, and their idea of "roughing it" consists of driving to the beach/mtn cabin.

The press release of the GX also showed photos of the chassis with a battery. I'd be surprised if they don't release it with the 2.4L hybrid as well.

I am sure there is a lot of bitching and moaning in here. This, and the GX, and the Taco hit it out of the park. Toyota is doing great with TNGA platform. Sucks we did not get any cool versions of the 300 series here, I am disappointed in how they implemented the hybrid system in the Tundra (I wanted more gas mileage), and that cargo area in the Sequoia is dumb (but it sure looks sexy)... but overall they are doing awesome.

I will have a TNGA platform. I just want to go mess around with all of them in person, once the dust settles.

I've seen some good info indicating adequate headroom for those of us that are super tall.

With Toyota recently upscaling and standardizing sunroofs on other models or designing to a 38"-39" headroom figure, I was nervous, but it appears that they've perhaps gone up to 40"+ to accommodate those that are 6'6" tall and more. It's been a long time since I've fit in a Toyota vehicle.

Most recent that I know of is a 2006 Tundra and perhaps I'd swap mine out for this 4Runner+.

Indeed. I was just discussing with my wife how the 250 seems to retain a classic tall Land Cruiser greenhouse — something that we love about our 80s: plenty of headroom (I’m quite tall) and a commanding upright view of the world around.

Great headroom imo. I'm 6'1". Solid 5-6" above my head.

Next question? :D

It's late, I'm tired but I love the Land Cruiser community and want to help answer questions. What do you need pics of?

Man I got invited to shoot there tonight but couldn't make it work. Wish I could have made it!

How large do you think you can go with tires without cutting?

How beefy are the IFS components - more similar to 200 or 4Runner?
