My skids are broken in.

And it looks like the truck will need to go in for a valley pan gasket replacement

Skid looks fine. I have to take a hammer to mine once in a while to straighten back out...still better than stock. I was losing maybe a quart of coolant over 6 months and had no other indications. I was checking level every day even a month or two after the repair. Good luck.

The skids were plowing out the mud holes in Iowa, hence all the paint missing and my desire for taller tires now that I am someplace I need to air down.

Booked my Valley Gasket replacement. Dropping it off tuesday

At Stevenson Lexus for a handful of maintenance including:
Oil change
Transmission drain and fill
Rear pass. Caliper inspection.
Any due chassis maintenance since it's last time in a dealer.

Last but not least, verification of valley pan leak and then resealing it.

I am averaging 600-800 miles a week.

Quote was 2k for Valley Plate reseal.

They did say my timing cover was leaking oil but I am going to wait since it's expensive. 4400$

I am doing the rear caliper myself. Going with extra duty ebc pads and brembo rotors.

Ordered pads, rotors and a caliper for less than $500. Depending on how bad the leak is, I may take it right back in, hoping it's just seeping. I noticed it was down about a half quart at 4k miles

A quart of coolant or oil? Chances are that doing both in the same visit could save money in the long term. I've got a bunch to catch up on but if mine develops an oil leak that is not severe, I'll carry a quart and top off when I refuel.

Oil

I dont want to wipe out my emergency fund, so if isn't a seep and really needs it i will probably be trading it on what I originally wanted, a Tacoma.

Looked at all the numbers and going to call the dealer tomorrow and have them do it.

Went as far as getting pre-approved to trade it but owe too much for it to be fiscally advisable.

So much for bigger tires this year. 😂😭

Cost of ownership of these things is pretty decent. I've got some planned component replacements coming up in the next month that will cost about $2k. Not horrible as long as nothing else breaks for the next 40-50k miles. Now that I've said that...🤣

This is way more than I have had since my first car in the middle 90s. So I am highly shocked.

The last 5 lug i had i only had to put about $100 in parts over 10 years and 150k

Far simpler machines and super reliable (98?). Did it ever lose any fluids? Not knocking your claim, I just know my Toyotas always lost a little oil, coolant or diff fluid. I kept them topped off and never worried about it.

No, it didn't. 2RZ with an Aisin Manual transmission.
5 lugs have always been the most reliable BOF toyotas, though, and the 2RZ/3RZ is really the only engine that can hold a candle to the UZ engine family reliability.

Also, 5 lugs where light, my last one was maybe 3100 lbs. Less weight to move, so less wear and tear.

That's pretty awesome. Better experience than my Toyotas.

5 lug reliability was legendary, which is why half of their clientele was retired dudes that didn't want to be let down.

Also, the only trucks people left cards on with offers to buy were my stick shift 5 lugs.

I ordered a set of extended brake lines, will swap them in the rear first as i ditch the green stuff pads and the bad caliper.

Will be brembo blank front and rear with extra duty orange stuff pads front and rear running an agnostic performance fluid motul 5.1.

Should be getting a new waterpump, too.

What kind of life are you getting from your pads? I have to replace mine almost every 20k miles with about 5k of that towing my camper. Just curious about trying a different brand and don't care if they are noisy.
