Mt. Laguna sounds perfect. Derrick, do you have a personal experience with one of these? (Big Sage, Buckwheat, Manzanita, Whitehorn, and Yerba Santa). Or are they all nice?

I have only cruised by on my bike and haven't paid close attention but the group sites are in their own area separate from the individual sites. That area is nice so I'd say they are all going be to close in comparison. They are nicely nestled in the pines next to the meadow. There is a mountain store only 2 miles away for anyone who might forget necessities.

Atlanta? Airport? Yuck. We will miss having you on this year's trip....

Did we land on a location?

Im applying for the reservation right now, but the max of vehicles is 10 and 40 people. Tent camping only, but with 30 foot parking spots so i'd think you could use a trailer/RTT. This is Horse Heaven Camp with 3 group camps.

The only problem i see, is that we had 9 people vote for the 25th.... so if anyone else shows up.. we can't have them camp.

The other sites hold more people and vehicles, but are booked for the date we all want.

Thoughts?

It's $60 for the group camp per/night. I don't mind paying for it upfront.

I am in for those dates. Was able to move things around. My thought is if we are already at max capacity we perhaps should look elsewhere. My two cents.

I don't disagree with this, but the problem has been where??

Yep. I did a quick scan of group campgrounds in the SBNF that allow reservations and everything is booked. Looking at the Expo Mtn Redvz coming up someone posted that there is dispersed camping very near Jenks Lake. Just a thought. Also, i am taking the friday off, we can always get up to Holcomb very early on Friday and stakeout some sites.....

Hey guys. Spoke with Dave today and we are working together to get things setup. Like i said earlier, it appears many or most of the group sites are taken with the exception of the site all ready noted near Julian. Before Dave and i commit, we thought it important to take one last role call to see who is 100% in and will be there. If only a few of us, perhaps the Julian location will work...If more are planning on attending, we might need to rethink things. Worst case (if you call it that) would be perhaps push the date out until after Summer and things cool down in the desert. We can then easily find locations to suit us. We are also working on a plan "B" location but will not know if that will fly for a day or two...

So please post up if you plan on attending.
Thanks!

I'm still on for the 25 and 26th and off Sept 1 and 2. Will be arriving in the evening though for both weekends. The rest of Sept I am not sure of my schedule but can probably switch shifts with someone if a later date is determine. I'm for max participation if we can find the date and place to suit most of us. Just want to be where its cooler though.

I got 25/26 approved off so I'm still in.

I have a cabin within hiking distance of Horse haven group campground. I can probably accommodate the overflow of 4 or 5 rigs. Lets do this!

Well then. I think we have things covered. Thanks for stepping up!
Dave - are we good to go?

Ok, i can book this as early as this afternoon. Question for you all, it's $60 a night for the group camp. We're all cool with $120 for both nights right?

We'll need everyone to pitch in. Say $10 a vehicle is fair...

I just talked to the Ranger station and they said it's like a dirt open area that you camp in, so trailers, RTT's and ground tents should all be fine.
