Alright, phase 2 is complete, phase 3 will bring a finished coating and tag and backup camera placement. The addition of the 4xinnovations swing out is the cherry on top. We used a wheel spacer to clear for the hi-lift and added a "bike rack" receiver on the swing arm.

Looking great! Hey what did you do with the power steering lines that hang down when you did the front bumper? I just started putting together a coastal front bumper and cant figure out where to relocate those lines.

No problem and I actually forgot what I did and I had to go look. Looks like I got a section of fuel hose and replaced the existing power steering line went up and over and around the radiator and then down the other side.

The last mod was the RCI gas tank skid, I had not planned on purchasing a GTS because my 3G 4R never needed one after all the action it had seen. That might be partly to its gas tank being metal and not plastic and that it was lighter, much lighter than Fat Marsha. Anyhow, the factory skid took a beating at WindRock last year, with some decent deformation.

A PM item that was on the books was wheel bearings and LBJs, I got the less expensive fully assembled (with the exception of swapping my longer wheel studs in) wheel bearings this time around, and 555 LBJs. The press made easy work of the LBJs. Then I had an Alice in Wanderland type of steering that started a few months ago, it's one of those you think it is just you kinda things until you realize it isn't. So lower steering shaft was replaced.
 
I got around to test fitting and installing the tag light. I was initially going with a blem unit from Lux Lighting (I have these as courtesy lights on the GX) but when shipping was as much as the light itself I had to sit and think. I remembered @Slow85 got me a BD rocklight for Christmas or maybe my Birthday. I mocked it up, measured, drilled, bent, and zipped it. Not to route the wires.

My subwoofer took a dump on me a day before I started the Cam Seal Job from hell. So I did what most do and replaced it with the Skar 6.5"

2UZ VVTI Ticking/ Clacking/ Tapping Noise after Cam Seal & Single Cam swap

OK, short story long. I wanted to replace leaking 2uz VVTI cam seals, they were making a mess. I got the parts, watched the video, and thumbed through the FSM. I DID NOT want to replace the water pump and all the goodies because it had already been done 40k ago (documented). And yes I should...

I am not a mechanic, I only play one in my garage, generally, if there are instructions, I lose them or just throw them away. Mistakes we made and they have cost me valuable time for me and my family. Not cool.

On the plus side, some things were also learned,

#1 The marks on the cam covers do correspond with the crankshaft cover, in the event you didn't know this already. If you choose the solid bar on the camshaft cover for your TDC reference you'll need to line that up with 0 on the crankshaft cover. If you choose the T as your reference mark you'll need to line up with the pin to the right of the graduated section on the camshaft cover. Either will get you there using the notches on the cam gears.

#2 If you tighten the camshaft improperly, it will die a horrible death and break at the point of applied force.

#3 I can now get to the cams in 30 minutes flat.

#4 you save a bit on gas operating as a 1 car family and working from home.

Yes, the beer is my reward for not setting it on fire day after day, tear down after rebuild. I will get it shortly. Todays choice was a Hazy IPA
 
Project update, after reassembling for the Nth time I approached the run it till it doesn't mindset. I dropped my child off at school and the GX Gods gave me a code. P0010 & P0018. Ordered a CHEAP set of Amazon VVTI actuators to see if that clears it up. Will follow up with OEM once I know.

Well that didn't work, the P0010 did clear, probably because I pulled electrical connectors on and off while it was running to see if any difference was made. None was (other than the code. The P0018 code still persists, as does the noise. In a roundabout way to mask the ticking, I added a noisier solution, at the very least it doesn't sound like a Prius anymore.
