Hi All - Probably a lot of these threads floating around, but here we go...

Finally got serious about getting a Toyota 4x4... After much deliberating, dove in and got a 2006 GX470 Nav with 153K miles on it, bone stock at the time of purchase. It's a CA car, so undercarriage looks good, and pretty clean overall. Compared to my wife's '15 GX460, it's a little crusty, but hey, that's to be expected!

Since I got it, here's what's been installed:
- Falken Wildpeak AT3/W's in P285/70R17
- Dobinsons Suspension kit w/2" lift (thanks to Kyle over at Treaty Offroad for the parts)
- SSO rear coil conversion
- New OEM LCA's (for the new bushings)
- SPC UCA's
- New OEM inner/outer tie-rods
- New end links (MOOG front, Dobinsons rear)
- New-ish front interior door panels
- Android Headunit
- Black Prado exterior belt mouldings
- G2 1.25" wheel spacers
- RAD Rubber splash guards
- Lamin-X amber foglight stickers
- High performance Treaty Offroad and GXOR stickers! Probably some ih8mud ones too :)

Eventually going to do the standard running board chop, and likely chop the bumpers a little too. A little worried about chopping the running boards since the kids need them to get in and out of the rig.

Update... here are some of my previous cars:

2012 Subaru STi... Great car to haul the family around in:

2004 M3... if only I got it in stick (SMG wasn't bad, but I missed manual):

Great color! We are in a similar boat. After weighing options and expense, I am going to replace bushings and ball joints on my LCAs.

also guys... my dash is cracked. not horrible, but the PO threw one of those sweet cloth covers over it... eventually i want to replace the dash, but that's a pricey endeavor. any recommendations on how to proceed?

are you going with OEM bushings and ball joints?
I am going with Moog Problem Solver bushings and ball joints from Rock Auto for the LCAs. I like having the zerk fitting for the ball joints. I am going OEM on some things like the CV boot replacement kit.

Uneventful update... G2 1.25" spacers, replaced belt mouldings all around, replaced front inner door panels, installed oem hitch, replaced floor mats with oem black, replaced radiator (shop did that one)...

OK experts... couple questions:

1. did some searches, but couldn't find anything... recommendations for inner/outer tie rod links? steering isn't making any funny noises, but it is sloppy. i know OEM is always the preferred route, but NAPA, MOOG, and deeza are some names that popped up when i did a search. anyone have any recommendations or good experiences???

2. when i was under the front drivers side fender, replacing the rubber splash guards, i noticed that there was some seepage around the engine... i'm not too well versed with the layout, so i'm not really sure what i'm looking at. here's a pic, where you can see it (right in the middle or the pic):

i would start looking at the valve cover gaskets....unless they have been replaced recently i would almost guarrantee they are leaking or dang near leaking. easy enough to run your fingers around the valve cover edge....

And most likely loose. Those bolts always back out.

dobinsons, uca's, lca's, tie-rods oh my

guys and gals... as i'm considering new tires, what are your thoughts on 265/70r17 falken wildpeaks?

seems like the sexy size is 285/70r17, or even 255/80r17...............

The guys at toytec suggested 275/70/17 (I got cooper stt Maxx ) It’s got 1.25 spacers and the SPC UCA’s. I think it looks fine, managing 16 mpgs. Honestly though it’s my first lift and first bigger tires ever so no real reference point.

Nice! My setup is very similar... Yeah I was also considering the 275/70r17 Wildpeaks!
