Is there any value to keep the AHC in the “OFF” position? Wondering if not using it every time the vehicle is on seems like the way to go.

I agree. I don’t know the LX system’s overall longevity, but they’ve proven to be remarkably reliable, especially when compared to every other manufacturer’s version of the same. Keeping it static most of the time might tend to shorten the life.
