Yeah. Pneumatic saw, patience, and a Saturday.Nice. Did you do the cutouts for the recovery points and center hitch recovery shackle yourself? Looks clean.

Agreed! Just the other day I was coming out of a tight canyon on a narrow dirt road and passed 4-5 people. No one waved back and I was the only one that made any effort to slow down and move out of the way for the other guy. They all just sped by without consideration for anyone else on the road. You're right, it's not hard to be nice.Gold King Basin near Telluride.
There is a thread in this forum about drivers in other LC’s not waving to you as they go by in his neighborhood. The drive to Gold King makes me want to start a thread about people in any type of car not waving to you after you have backed up 30 yards to find a spot where they can pass.
It’s an easy/short drive from Telluride, but there are several spots on the road where it’s only single-lane so you have to back-up to find a wider spot so they can pass.
Just wave a quick thanks as you go by if somebody pulls over for you. It’s free!

Ditto. The only people to even acknowledge us in 2015 when we the telluride area trails in our GX was a very chill LX470 driver who was looking for the closest lulu lemon store on Imogene pass and a distressed British man in an X1 coming down to Ouray from engineer pass. We gave him our maps and guide book to help him turn around and get back to Lake City. Poor lad thought his rental bimmer was a 4x4.Agreed! Everyone I’ve seen / met on the trails in that area have been awesome. These are all random people happy to see likeminded people.I haven’t been back in a few years but I don’t recall everyone being such pricks on the passes. That doesn’t give me high hopes for our trip up there in a couple of weeks but then again I’m not there to make friends lol.
Is it torn up this year? I saw some recent videos of pretty bad mud bogs. But I don’t know if it’s typically that wet early in the season. I’ve only done it in August once but planning to go back this September.
I did not think it was bad at all, I saw that mud bog video too but I think it’s mostly dried up by now. My 6 year old son and I had a blast, he now calls it “bumpy pass”. He loved the water crossings, all of them had been more than manageable. Is it torn up this year? I saw some recent videos of pretty bad mud bogs. It's an automotive edging product I found on Amazon. Here is the link:What is that black molding material that you use to finish off the cuts?
