Well, I spoke to R.K. and we are currently negotiating. I have a 1983 suburban that may or may not have a dana 60 axle in it, if it does then we might trade. Where is the one you speak of Marshall? Also I might need to talk to you about a transfer case, as mine is leaking from the seals like a sieve. I contacted cruiserparts to see if they had the rear of a frame they would part with, so I am waiting on them to e-mail me.... I took off running boards and spare tire carrier, just to get things started and make me feel like progress is happening....

Ok, I guess I have to edit my sig line, cause now we are down to 2 Land Cruisers. I let the 100 go today, and got it paid for, so that frees up more money both in monthly payments and insurance to help work on the 40!!! Also I am starting school back in Jan. so it'll help with the burden of that. So in short, goodbye 100....i'll have another one someday....

Nooooo, I was up with Alan last night, and I would have had more swag had a troll not swiped most of it already :) But I did get some cool stuff and good knowledge about how to do some stuff with mine, and what direction I want to go. I love the '79 he has, but i'd be afraid to drive it as it is too nice. By the Bye, I think I have a half tub from a '76 for a decent price I guess if it turns out to be as nice as he says it is, and I may go get it this weekend. Hopefully I can get the tub off, frame fixed and sand blasted over the course of the next week and be ready to mount some things....

Ok, so far I have a pristine rear frame portion coming c/o cruiserdrew, all I got to pay for is the shipping, so hopefully that won't be too bad. I am going sometime next week to pick up a half tub from a '76 from the guy in athens, ga who swears it is 99%. I am going to look into getting one of the cheaper sand blasters and going to the frame when I get the old tub off and the front end. I am thinking that I might be able to get away with scuffing the current paint with 120 grit paper on a jitterbug sander and using that as primer for the paint, but I am open to suggestions. I still need some rocker panels, so if anyone knows any gently used ones i'm open to that, but otherwise i'll be getting them from CCOT or soemeone else who fabs new stuff. I'll be looking for some help along the way, so anyone who can volunteer evening time will be much appreciated. A special thanks to Alan who gave me some stuff and sold me some stuff, unfortunately I couldn't use the tub he had, but it was as they say the thought that counts......

I have a set of 77 fenders that are in pretty darn good shape sitting in my driveway right now. I was asking 75 each but I will take 75 for both if your in need...

Cool, so I may have some fenders, I got my tub last night, dude drove it up from GA, so it is here. I plan on taking it to have the sandblaster take a look and see what they'd charge me to blast it. It has some surface rust on it, and the bolts where the heater was are rusted in. Is there any good way to get the rust out of the bolt holes? Or will the sand blasting people take care of that? Any ways, all I need now is some rocker panels, but I may have to go new with those from PACOL or CCOT. They asked if I needed the inner and outer, but I am not sure which I need, or if I need both. How are they separated? I am hoping to get this train on track soon and be looking at paint in the next few months!!!! Maybe get some good lift springs from someone on here, Alan has half of a lift, i'd have to get 2 springs from JTO as they are pinnacles, and he is the only one I know who deals with them.... any thoughts???

Theres a guy down in Atlanta that the ACC guys talk about named Oscar I think. Hes a cruiser sheet metal guy and supposedly his prices are good. I havent bought anything but you may want to track him down since hes close.

Yeah, I shot you a couple of e-mails as well 77cruiser, I think I talked to them and may end up sourcing my rockers from him as most parts places say that they are the first thing on a cruiser to go, so it may behoof me to start from scratch.

Count me in for some night work, especially if its raining and I can't go out to bent creek!

I'll jot ya down, I am thinking sometime next week we may pull the old tub off and put the newer, soon to be sandblasted and epoxy primered tub on!!! If so I might need some of your wire wheeling skills/POR 15 brushing skills David.... So if you have some night availablity I will take you up on it any time. There is always SOMETHING to do on a cruiser.....:hillbilly:

Next week sounds pretty good. Let me check my calendar for daddy duty commitments. Sure would like to help take off the old tub. Could learn a lot from that.

Right now it is all dependent on cruiserdrew sending me the cross member/frame portion I figure i'll do that all at the same time. Check your schedule and we can get some stuff done, just let me know....

Ok, update time I guess.... I cut the old rear sill off to 1. get the bolts holding the spare tire carrier hook off as they were pretty nasty rusted and 2. to see how much cutting i'd have to do to get the 4 rear body mount bolts off. Well to my suprise the rear body mounts were not attached to the body anymore, so score!!!! Less work for me to do I guess. I also got some cygnus white mixed up for the bezel and the top. I inquired with the paint shop who told me they could probbably do me about $200 for my color in a paint system. I have a friend who has a resto shop who said he'd shoot it for me for, well pretty good, so once I get some stuff done I will take it to him and get it colored up!!! (once the frame is fully fixed and POR 15'd) But that is where I am right now....more to come!!!

I gotta find my camera.... What was the name of that body filler you used? I couldn't remember... dinner was superb and I will definately come back for more cobbler!!

fiberall. it comes in a plastic tube you will also need the hardener that goes with it. it also comes in a tube. if my schedule gets better i may come up and help you if you need it.

Sweet, that'd be super cool!!!

Ok, so I attempted to paint the bezel with automotive paint (te real stuff) and a bottle aerosol can thingy. I got the cygnus white and scuffed the bezel last night. So today I heated up the garage and used a box fan to provide some negative pressure. I put on my respirator and went to town. Boy now I know why you should shave prior to using a respirator!!! Ok, so I probbably got some paint particles in me, but I guess it'll be ok....I have seen guys paint without masks at all. Any ways, I decided on a budget today, I am going cheap ~ $3500 which will have me in about 5k on the truck all together. Does anyone think that this is unreasonable? I think I should be able to get the body straight, buy and have it painted replace some stuff and get a suspension and tires etc.... Let me know if I should pad the budget any more....... THANKS!!!

That's exactly what my dr. said when I was having problems with a laxative. I think it was called fiberall too.
