well, Swampbucks truck is getting decent fuel mileage for a V6 but with gas hitting $1.20/L it is time to try something new.

I have an old PZ sitting here that i pulled from one of my bush trucks and an old R141 which has 4.8-1 first gear and no O/D. since he has 4.10 gearing i am thinking that with 33s or 34s he should be in decent power range for the normal 90-100k/h around here and SHOULD be returning 28-33 mpg (Canadian gallons) once completed.

we will be doing some quick measurments and eyeballing what all will be needed to install this unit in his truck. i suspect we will need to move the PS box the same as on the 40 series is needed.

the 141 shoudl have the same output as the 150 so that should be a direct bolt in with factory cross member.

my concern is the engine height and length. i am not overly concerned about the extra engine weight.

cooling will be an issue that will need to be addressed as the small V6 rad might not be up to the task.

if it looks like a possible fit then we will do a full write up with pics of the process, if it looks like a no-go then ... well ... that will be posted and we will look at other options.

cheers

weeellll,
the V6 gasser is 29.5" tall and the rad to bell housing is 28.5"
the 1PZ is 28.5" tall to the top of the tappet cover and 28.5" long from the bell housing to the front of the water pump ...
so
at this point it looks doable although a bit tight in length.

the cross over will make it tight in height as well so the sound deadening will have to come out from under the hood or a drop of 1" in location of the engine.

i will have to make some more closer measurements before tackling this conversion.

any more details?

i pretty sure youll fits the pz in there. i have some friends that fits omb617 in a 4runner and a toy pickup. electric fan were used because of the tight fit. the motors were fit into the truck to accommodate the stock driveline (w56) in stock position, so that the cost of new driveshaft would be eliminated. i dont think the v6 rad will work...

there is 1/2" clearence between the stock rad and the front of the PZ but the PS pump might be an issue.
the PZ needs the special input shaft for the tranny.
a 3B is an easy install since it is 4" shorter in length as is most 4 bangers.

i am busy with the troopy build and will be touching base on this one when ever we get time to play with it.
since the R141 has the off set t/case i am thinking also of swapping to either LJ axles or full size LC diffs.

but

there is no rush on this one.

LOL!!
if i was getting paid to do it then that would be different, since i am doing it for fun ... it will be a while.

the PZ is about 2" too long to fit into the engine bay, at that point i lost interest...
if you were to move the rad support forward then you might make it work.
