Looking good. Will the top be white?

Very clean looking truck. Amazing for what it was.

Nice to see it under turbo and propane.

keep the pics a rollin.

show some front end shots. Are you keeping the split rims on there?

i will either run aluminum or facory 16" steel gray.
the top will match the body. i was thinking of going white but it isn't a 40 series...
the 4 speed will stay in for the trip to the coast. turbo and propane will wait till after the shake down run in Aug. then the turbo and 5 spd for a run to edmonchuck and finally the PI for the run to Pismo Beach...
(if all goes according to plan)
cheers and thanks for the compliment.

wow ambition

You started this when and it will be done by the 13 aug.
Can't wait to see it there. Nice work.

i started it 2 weeks ago and yes i want it done by the 13th.
it is not perfect by any means but i think it will turn out acceptable.
ambition is spontanious with me. if i have a project that i just enjoy then i have absolutley no problem busting my butt. this one peaked my interest, i never owned a PZ before. i have always wanted to try my hand at redoing a 70 series. i have festered ideas for a 75 trayback for years. i tried a few out on my 97, now i get to try a few more.
i have refurbished tons of 40s and 60s over the years.

i really hope Berni likes it. i think it would make a great daily driver/ advertising vehicle.

thanks for the compliment

Hippo liner is a spray in rubberized coating that cuts down on noise and heat, is scratch resitant. it is quite flexable and can be tinted any colour to match the body.
it is strongly recommended to paint the item before applying since this stuff is a real bear to remove.
chears...

So there was something better than the black tar crap I used on the underside when I rebuilt my gearbox and transfer. Thanks for the info.

hummm... better?
at least the tar crap can be removed with gasoline this stuff does not come off with out a lot of sweat...

maybe something like this?

the windsheild frame is installed with a new ENS glass...
the "new" interior is looking more complete...

the roof and door installed...
the power mirrors and door locks and windows caused a bit of a head ache as the holes going into the cab are not drilled. the wiring in the 95 does not match the 89 so i had to change the wiring conectors as well.
i am not sure if i am going with the chrome mirrors and running boards and front bumper or the black look...
at least it is starting to look like something again.
i am happy with the last week and a halfs work. (i had to actually ask a buddy how long i had been working on it...)
the hood, upper/lower/inner fenders, valence, rad support, should be painted for tomorrow. not sure if i will be working on the truck tomorrow since Berni is back so this "might" be the last update for a while...
i'm beat,
cheers

thank you, i appreciate the compliment...

Wayne you're doing great work. Working fast too.

Are you going to sell this puppy?

Tom

i want to drive it a bit first but if Berni doesn't like it then yep either this one or the white one will have to go... i can't have 2 X 75s (can i?)
i found out we had a problem with the paint last night so the front clip will be on hold for a week or so...
i was trying to get the cab and chassis ready for outside life before this week. i have a ton of work to catch up on.
the cool thing, other than the paint, i have been doing this project alone. it has been a good test. i have had someone help me for quite a while now and i didn't know if i still had the drive needed. although at times a second set of hands would have been nice...
thanks for the compliment Tom.
cheers

Not a lots of people knows about 70 series by Toyota around the world, but 70 series are more serius off road vehicles by Toyota, with a Tons of capabilities, lockes, snorkels ( all oem ) winch, etc ...

I always imagine HDJ-71 with 4.88 + 38" tires + Marks Low gears + about 8" + factory lockers front and rear + 1HD-T engine .. factory snorkel + factory winch .... wouu sorry ..

I'm hallucinate ... :D

i can't afford that from the factory (and we can not get that here for at least 15 years)...
the best i can do for now is a HZJ-T 75 on 35s with a single locker and 3" of lift...
it is fun to drive...
cheers

oaky so i have had just an hour here and there to keep putzing at putting this rig back together.
this is the first 70 series i have bothered to try and put back together and i am learning a couple notable facts.
on a 40 series you put the lower fender on first but on the 70 series it is a 3 piece fender. you have to install the lower skirt under the rad support first and just the front bolt. thenyou install the upper part. fit it front and rear. this is the easiest part of the process. the middle (called lower fender) goes on next and you need to be very flexable as well as having small hands, neither of which i have. once you have the bolts started from the middle to the top then insert the grubber gasket before tightening the bolts down. BTW, having the headlights out make getting a couple of the bolts much easier. last you bolt the skirt up to BOTH the top and middle fender.
i installed the snorkel while i had ease of access and this worked very well.
the front section is easy and self explanatory.
once the headlights were reinstalled i was able to install the new grill. i am hopeing i can get the hood installed yet today but if the phone doesn't stop ringing i will be out of luck.
let me know what you think.
<i am still undecided at to chrome mirrors, front bumper and running boards or to go with black...>
