does anyone know how to remove these bloody clips? I've tried just about everything under the sun (minus the correct way) and can't get the cables to release. I've been trying to pinch them in, but doesn't seem to be working either.

thanks.

rear indoor light

Not a huge improvement but a helpful one. I bought a cheap led light for the rear. It will move a little up and down to adjust the beam and the nice part is I can use it as a flashlight if need be (held on by a magnet)t. We'll see how long the adhesive holds in the Florida heat. It's brighter than the photo shows.

Found these at Home Depot for the box tie-downs. Not the cleanest or smallest, but at $4.97 for four.....

Whoa! Took so long to read this whole thread...

So much information but oddly enough my only question so far is about your FRP top. Is it factory black?

Mine is Silver but painted black and the paint is chipping...Yours looks like it isn't painted.

Great truck and great build thread!

thanks maurice. It is painted. Oddly enough I've really grown over time to like the black top. It looks a lot better the more I see it. There is a bit of flaking on mine, but not much. If I need to paint it again down the road I'll probably try and go the same colour as my bj73.

thanks again.

Does anybody by chance know the amount of degrees a bj73 can handle before rolling? I don't have one of those fancy pitch/roll/elevation gadgets and have seen they max out at 30 degrees. Curious if that is the max for a bj73/74 and can't seem to find those kind of specs online.

if your nuts start crawling into you belly it is probably a good time to turn down hill.
as for degrees, too many variables ... width of tires, height of truck, COG, roof rack, anything on the roof rack, amount of fuel in the tank, how many people are sitting in the truck, air pressure of tires, any wind, perfectly smooth or rough side hill?

Isn't Florida as flat as a pancake?
I thought a fire ant mound was the biggest hill in Florida.

Quick update. Heater control unit was finally put back in last week, seems to be working better after loosening up cables. It is still stiff but I don't believe will get any better without replacement cables.

Yan at Akella sent me a shear pin which I got yesterday part # 90255-04004. Sadly it is too big and I will either have to drill out more or keep searching for a smaller one. Can't thank Yan enough for his help, great guy to deal with.

Starting in mid March though early November you can set the A/C on full cold and leave it there. :D

Curious if anyone has suggestions with replacement bulbs for the front headlights. One of mine is out and debating on buying the same as what I pulled out, or changing both. Will any LED bulbs work or plug into the current light housing? I haven't had much time to research this, been swamped with the fire academy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In other news, the Cruiser has been running great...knock on wood....Have a few rust bubbles I really need to take care of on the windshield and a bit on the one wheel well. Ran into a couple guys with fj40s around town. They've never seen a 70 series before, let alone a diesel Land Cruiser.

cheers.

Just move to Southern Georgia where half of the vehicles only have one headlight. You will fit right in.

check out the "round eyes". I don't have them on my '70, but they work really well on the 60 series
