Almost! Another week. Now that high school has started, I can only go down to work on the truck on saturdays. Ill get her started up real soon. By the end of September for sure.

Looks good! Watch those zip ties on rubber hoses. They will cut through the hose from the vibrations. Sleeve the hose with another piece of hose split and put around it. Just a suggestion.

Will do! Thanks for the tip!

Slave Cylinder wont bleed?

Hey guys. So I got in the car to test all the pedals out, and the clutch seems really sloppy. Its just not quite as defined and snappy as it used to be.
I noticed that Id lost some fluid from the reservoir so I topped it up. I was under the impression that its a self bleeding system and all I had to do was pump it a bunch of times. So after a number of pumps it returned to normal, but 20 minutes later, it was back to a sloppy pedal.

Thoughts???

You have air in the system, maybe old sitting fluid acting up.
They fluid absorbs moisture, and moisture weakens the internal seals.

It's not self bleeding, crank the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder down by the bellhousing.
Let it gravity bleed, and see what comes out.
Fill reservoir just before it drains out.

Or bleed it traditional way.

Depending on the fluids state, I'd consider servicing the master and slave.

Rear interior cargo panels have begun!!!

Got the old panel lay'd out on top of the surprisingly strong composite board Ill be using. I planned to use a ply wood of some sort but they tend to shatter/splinter really badly when they are too thin. So I went with some composite board that seemed to be the perfect thickness. Its really strong and firm, but is also fairly light and very easy to work with. So, without further ado.

All thats left is to cut the door, buy hinges and a latching system. Then Im going to paint it basic gloss grey to match the carpeting.

Does anyone have any suggestions for closure options? Both hinges AND a latching system. I want it to be as snag-free and low profile as possible while being tough. I also dont want to have to climb all the way in the back just to open the compartment.

Any ideas are appreciated!!!

Got some COMS!!!!
Picked up a Baofeng UV-5R. Its an awesome little HAM setup. So far Im thrilled with it. I wanted something compact that didnt take up space in the cab or under the dash. This will probably live in my glove box, and only come out when Im on the trail.

Vapor Separator Question!!!!

Hey guys. So I was working on my rear interior storage panels and ran into an issue. With the drivers side, theres buckets of room to store stuff in the wall, so Im for sure making a panel for that side with a flip down door for storage.

My question is for the PASSENGER side. What is the point of the vapor separator thingy back there? What does it do? And now that Im running a diesel, do I need it??? If I dont need it, what should I do about it?
If it turns out that I should just leave it alone and not mess with it, Ill still make a panel for that side, but not go to the trouble and expense of making it with a storage hatch.

Thanks guys!

Just buy the Wagongear panel storage. You won't be disappointed. Well worth the money!

Not sure if you will need the vapor doohickey with the diesel, but if you do you can move it back towards the taillight into the area a bit and get it out of the way some.

Im already nearly done with the panels. And after the diesel, Im far too broke for anything that wagongear sells. :(

I enjoy building the modification 10x more than actually using it or showing people that I have it. Its the journey not the destination in my book :D

Agreed. What am i gonna put in my WG side panels? Not a ******* thing. But when else am I gonna get to use a cutoff wheel inside my own truck...

Truck is turning out nicely and you will have to show some finalized pictures of the grill. Love that little Baofang and it is on my list of things to grab along with the data cable for the computer, extended antenna and the handheld mic that fits it. Utilization will be the same as you, just need to get my HAM license now.

No need for the vapor recovery device with diesel. I completely removed mine, and then did the same with Shasta (2H converted FJ60 we just built) with zero problems.

I fill my quarter panels with all kinds of stuff. Left side has emergency food, right side has 4 way lug wrench, some fluids, trash bags and an emergency air compressor.

Thanks so much. Ill plan to remove mine. How did you plug the holes? Do you have any pictures of how you did it??
Thanks!

UPDATE:

Electrical system is getting done!!!! The guys at the shop FINALLY got two solid days in on the wiring. The truck should turn over for the first time by this saturday.
