Air Intake - Back to Stock

When I bought the truck, the air intake hoses between the air filter housing and the "throttle body" on the intake manifold were cobbled together with an intake hose from some other auto joined to a radiator hose (see pics below).

I first tried to see if the parts were still available from Mr. T and found the first hose that attaches to the air filter housing was, but the other two are NLA. Thanks to the generosity of a MUD member ( @AlbertoSD  )and subsequently finding a stock setup on eBay (the seller turned out to be @Shes Mad  ) I was able to get may hands on the NLA parts and a quick order from Amayama got me the one remaining hose and clamps at a decent price (the local dealer wanted $45 for the 4 required OEM clamps).

I used a scotchbrite pad to knock the rust off the metal tube and put two coats of Rustoleum high heat flat black paint followed by two more coats of Rustoleum gloss black paint on the metal tube. The result is the shiniest component under the hood.

Pictures tell the rest of the story ....

So true, especially in the 7X community!

Very much so - I have been amazed at the camaraderie / help / suggestions in this side of MUD

Except for the grumpy old guys.... :crybaby:

No names, please. They/we are a thin-skinned bunch - sensitive, as well as grumpy....
My legal team is being consulted ..... I may sue.

Would that be Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe? ;)

I can't afford those guys. My guy is on the back cover of the phone book. He practices law and sells used cars.

Just call Saul...

Must be a different saul. The one I was referring to was an accomplished deviant, with a following of deviants, one of them, the sleepy mean guy, claimed to have invented the internet, those would be the minions that already know all about it.

Those minions pictured above would probably be welcomed most anywhere.

As a follow up, I drove the truck around town today and as crazy as it sounds, the 3B feels a little peppier .. maybe like a healthy tortise rather than a ailing one. The hill out of my subdivision was the first indicator. Usually, I had to run it in second to maintain 25 MPH or so. Today (first run post new OEM air intake), I was able to accelerate from ~25MPH on the same hill in 3rd ... :grinpimp:

Mo bettah

Only in a diesel Cruiser do you celebrate the ability to accelerate beyond 25 mph on a slight incline. :)

Especially true in a non-turbo one :rimshot:

Sorry if I missed it but regarding the stereo, does the Pyle power the stereo and the DROK unit just power the 12v constant for radio memory? Or does the DROK power the entire stereo?

Thanks!
