Replied to your PM. Sorry, man, I got nuthin.

Worth a shot. :D

I went ahead and ordered the high steer. :steer:

High steer should be here by Friday. I plan to make the journey up to the (other) shop this weekend to button up the rear, and get started on the front. Actually, mounting the springs on the front should be easy. There's no cutting or welding, just bolt on. Installing the high steer should be fairly straightforward. Once I get all that done, then mounting up the IFS box shouldn't be too bad. I ordered the mount kit so all you do is line up the plates, mark the holes, drill and weld in the sleeves, and weld the plates on.

Whose High steer did you go with? Marlin? There was an article in the newest issue of 4wd Toyota about the All Pro hi-steer.

Other than the steering box, sounds like the rest should be pretty straight forward.

I actually bought the Trail Gear. Low Range had it on sale for 314. The Marlin kit was quite a bit more and every time I looked it was out of stock. It's pretty much the same design that everyone else has. 80 series ends with beefier rods.

Some goodies have arrived!

Why, yes, those are Toyota part numbers on those tie rod ends. They are not actually Toyota parts though.

The steering arms that bolt to the knuckles are about 10 times beefier than stock btw. They're heavy duty to put it lightly.

(Yes I know people hate on trail gear. I was going to buy the Marlin kit but every time I checked it was out of stock. So, meh.)

Looks nice. And at this point, I really don't play that card anymore. TG has some pretty interesting products and I have looked at some of their products myself.

Sam, that truck is going to be bulletproof when you are finished with it.

I hope that when my new to me " mini truck " is 33yrs old someone will build it up like this. It won't be me as I will/would have been 76yrs old. But maybe I won't wait 33yrs

Here is mine.........

Sorry for the temporary highjack and thanks for the help the other day, I know you are very busy these days at work.

Looks great! I'm happy to help you guys any time I can.

Well, I have to apologize for the lack of step by step documentation and pics. It was a very full day. I left my house at 7am and didn't get home until 8pm. Having it at another shop means I have to have it in at least rolling condition before I leave. So, the way you see it is how I left it. It still has no brakes and no steering. I have to mount the IFS box and lengthen the steering shaft. I also still need to install my extended brake lines. After that it should be drivable.

Notes on install: The hardware was wrong. And when I say that, I mean ALL OF IT. The Tacoma springs have a smaller hole because they are sleeved. So the bolts I had for the back wouldn't fit. I plan to cut down some sleeves and put them in the shackles to take up the slack on the rear. I am just using the Tacoma bolts. On the fronts, the bolts I got with the Budbuilts were too short. So Mike went and picked up some larger and longer bolts. We had to drill out the holes in the Budbuilts and run the bushings through the drill press to get the bolts to fit. The bolts are 3/4" so I think they'll be strong enough. The rods that I got in the high steer kit were painted black but the steering arms and pitman arm were bare. So, Aaron threw some midnight blue powder coat on them for me.

Still a long way to go but LOOK AT THAT FLEX!!!

I didn't really get a great shot of the powder since I was in a rush to get it back together. You can see the pitman hanging off the front of the truck and can kinda see the steering arm.

That thing is going to kick trail 4's ass along with many others.

I am glad you ID'd that thing. I looked at the text pictures and on here and I was trying to figure out what that was.

Looks sweet, nice and flexy. shocking that thing will be the trick to make sure you can take advantage of all that flex.

And I am very jealous that you are actually making it thru your list, I just keep adding parts and projects to the pile.:meh: Stupid work and family and life keeps getting in the way... Wouldn't trade it most days, but I am going to have to buckle down and start clearing some things out.

Course with the new addition, I hope I can give the pickup the TLC it needs and start checking some things off and clearing out some parts.

April 20th will be here before you know it, keep the progress pics coming.

And speaking of parts and the new addition, I will be sending you a list this week probably for some PM stuff.:grinpimp: At this rate I really am going to just have to set up an account.:bang:

Yep. April 20th is right around the corner. I'm heading up tomorrow to get the steering and brakes buttoned up. I'm going to take my good camera so I can try to snap some pics for you guys.

Just send me your list and I'll get to it when I can.

Well, today was not a good day. I didn't get the steering finished. I got rear ended when I was stopped at a stop light (going to get lunch) and I got the wrong :censor: hardware AGAIN!
