Starting to think about drive shafts now. So the set up will be W56, duals, and HP 80 diff. I have a feeling my front is going to be really long. I'm going to need a long spline kit for sure. Seems like the usual spline length is somewhere around 10-12". Anybody running one? Any input? It isn't going to be balanced obviously so no big deal there.

So the consensus seems to be set everything up, measure compressed and full droop, then build to fit. That was pretty much the plan anyway. Hopefully I'll be able to order my dual adapter soon so I can at least get some measurements.

Wait, so the LED's and the hi-lift got mounted on the 9th? Did I miss those pictures?

They did not. They are going to get mounted when I get the truck back to the shop.

Spent the day helping a buddy put together his duals and wanted to share a couple pointers for when you do your doubler. If you twin stick it, have the flexy magnet to catch the pin you drive out. Have a good strong magnet to get the shifter interlock pin out. Also, double nut and tighten the studs as they recommend and most important, when you go to put the crawl-box on before the studs get too far in, put the washers on and start the nuts on at least the bottom two studs. There is a tolerance issue and if you fully seat the cases together, you CANNOT start the nuts. They don't tell you that anywhere in the instructions. It may be obvious to most but took us alot of studying to come to that conclusion. We were so frustrated that we were ready to cut the studs off to try and start the nuts. It will all make sense when you get to it.

Looking good Sam, keep up the good work. Haven't been on much lately as I have been on 6-10's at work for the past few weeks. Defiantly putting a damper on getting the 80 to Atlanta. Hopefully I can break away soon.

Thanks for the tips. I have the 2 extra cases at work. So hopefully I can get the adapter ordered soon and get them put together. What is he doing for drive shafts? Long spline?

Thanks Matt. It's coming along. Time is short though. As long as you can have your truck ready by May you're good.

I figure as long as I can get to Atlanta and get the harness corrected before may then I should be set. That's about all it really needs right now after all she is a 80 so wheeling as is should be not
Much of a problem. The Tacoma is doing the DD right now so the 80 should be nice and rested.
I sent Josh a pm yesterday letting him know I will be in touch soon for the parts you quoted me a couple of weekends ago for the Tacoma.

That list/truck of yours reminds me of a slab of stone being chipped away at to make a sculpture.I know, sounds goofy but the way you are scratching things off that list it is obvious you are a man on a mission. :)

Yeah it's always good to have a dedicated DD so you can work on your toy. That's a funny way to put it about my truck. I guess you're right though. Its really all about setting reachable goals. (At least for me it is.) Set the final goal (GSMTR), set milestones (working days), and understand that it is NOT going to all go according to plan. That might be the most important. Can't get discouraged when you fight all day to get one thing done or it takes 10 times longer to do something than you planned on. Or, when you get the wrong hardware 57 times... :bang: You just have to adjust and keep on keepin on.

Short update. Brought the trans up to work so we could tear it down. Everything looks great except the input bearing. It's pretty much as worn out as I have ever seen. Anyway, pics:

Ugh! Got the wrong trans rebuild kit! The one I ordered was supposed to fit all W series transmissions. Well guess what! The early/late and carb/EFI ones are different. :bang:

So that kit is on the way back. The correct one will hopefully be on the way tomorrow.

Need to check on my transfer adapter tomorrow too. :hhmm:

Adapter is here. Just waiting on my correct rebuild kit for the trans. Will try to snap some pics later. Also, going to pick up the truck Saturday. So hopefully I can get back to crossing things off my list.
