Getting ready to head out after lunch. I'll try to get a bunch of pics for you guys. I plan to be driving a lot so we'll see.

Short summation of this weekend: hammered the mini over a bunch of stuff, did great, popped a tire on trail 4 and had to change it on the trail, my tail light fell out, tag fell off, other than that had a great time. Once the pics start popping up on Facebook I'll share some here.

I dropped my truck off up at the shop and I am in the process of saving money for/buying the stuff for the string swap and the doubler. I plan to have that stuff done by GSMTR in May of 13. I'll do my best to document.

I handed my camera to Peter from ACC to snap some pics since I was driving most of the time.

Thanks! It does really well for what it is. The major limiting factors right now are the tires are way too small and there is no suspension lift. I'll be fixing that problem soon though. :grinpimp:

So I'm in planning/thinking mode right now. When we did the bob, I hacked off the extra frame pieces. Well, I am going to need to move my rear spring hanger back to accomodate the Tacoma springs. So, I am going to have to build something off of the rear frame to mount the hanger to and box the frame in. I think I am going to use some rectangular tubing and just box it in.

First of all, everyone take some time to marvel at my AMAZING MS Paint skills.

Anyway, this is what I'm thinking for the back:

Changed the design a bit.

Decided I will probably weld the rear piece flat and put some bracing in between there and the frame/insert pieces. Also, probably will do 2 large bolts through the frame instead of 4 smaller ones. Easier and it should be plenty strong.

I'm surprised there haven't been any comments from the peanut gallery on my drawing skills... :hillbilly:

Something I've wondered about is the crawl ratios with the dual cases and 4.70 gearsets. I have been doing a bunch of research on the topic since I have a W56 and 2 extra cases. I plan to do the doubler when I do the lift (or at least shortly after). I want to only do the driveshafts once.

So, there is a WEALTH of information out there on the topic. Marlin Crawler is, undoubtedly, the best source if you are looking for information. For example, here's a link to the crawl ratio based on which R&P, transfer gear, etc, you are running.

I can simplify it for you a bit. Take the R&P ratio and transfer ratio, and multiply by 3.93. Example: factory 4.10 R&P, dual 2.28 cases, and a W56(3.95 1st gear)=84.19:1 (4.10x2.28x2.28x3.95) This is going to be my inital setup.

I plan to buy a 4.70 gearset at some point as well. So then my final ratio will be 4.10 R&P, 2.28x4.70, 3.95=173.55:1 (4.10x2.28x4.70x3.95)

To have suspension and drivetrain completely finished for GSMTR!!! :bounce:

Is the truck up at ACC? Looks like a pretty healthy list ya got there. You got more resolve than me, I have been trying to just get my motor together and it is only 10 steps out in the garage.

I do feel your pain though because my 4Runner is at my folks about 2 hours from home too.

It's all about goals I guess. I feel like if I give myself a timeline and a date that I need to have completed, I'll get it done. "This truck WILL be at GSMTR this year. This is the list of things that have to be done. The end." (Just that simple!)

Yes, I dropped the truck off at ACC when we were on the way back from Golden Mountain. It's just sitting behind their shop right now. The plan is basically to take any off days that I have and go up there and work on it the entire day. So I should theoretically be able to work 8-10 hours on each of those days listed above. So, 12 days x8-10 hours is 96-120 hours of work time. If I can't get it done in that amount of time...
