After 3 years I heard to ole 79' BJ40 speak to me! Finished building the GM alternator and Saginaw P/S pump brackets, and wired up my glow plug relay system. Soon after that I was able to fire the ole girl up and man did it feel good to hear that ole diesel sound again!

Really nice standout-gorgeous BJ40 there Josh.

Love the upholstery, paint, kill pull-cable setup, power seats, etc, etc etc.

I likewise welded those seams down the sides of my windshield frame (and where the matching seam-protrusion extends down my tub too). But I didn't cut it back at all. So I'm now keen to see how that area looks once you have the doors fitted.

Looks like a massive amount of work has gone in there.

I'm amazed there's no sign of black smoke from the exhaust when you blip the throttle too!

It sounds sweet.

Please elaborate more on the hydraulic power boost to the brakes. I am adding a Diesel to a FJ-55 and need to delete the vacuum system as well as add power steering. Given the price of a vacuum alternator, I'm hoping that conversion to a GM alternator without vacuum will offset some of the costs of the hydraulic unit and that this change will make the system more stout.

I have had nearly 60 new subscribers on my Facebook page after I posted this video but not one response on mud. Here I thought everyone wanted me to avoid facebook? Funny stuff...

Happy New Year and thank you to everyone who has shown interest in this build!

If you liked this cruiser you may appreciate my next build project which is scheduled to continue in 3 weeks. This cruiser will raise the bar from this BJ40 build:
