Honestly, this guy joins literally yesterday, and brings this kind or arrogance clearly not understanding the audience here...I'd be disappointed if he didn't get lit up like a Christmas tree.:grinpimp:

Cheers

No one said this was a restoration to original spec´s. I thought this was a fórum for enthusiasts, not snooty critics. If you don´t like it, too bad. If it is too expensive for you, so what. Get over yourself and move on...

Funny, you crash this party and are pissed at the long-time guests?! Sorry, but I think you are a complete moron for letting posts get to you like this. You have thinner skin than Donald Trump. Your posts are only poking the bears more and I suspect it's become a fun sport for some. If you would have kept your fingers off the keyboard this thread would not have gone sideways.

FYI...you might want to learn this.

Definition of restoration

When did the 70 series type turn signals go into use on non-US 40s? I was thinking it was way later than '77...:hmm:
What month production is this rig?
Where was it originally imported?
Do you have any before pics?
Are those boomerang shackles a re-purposed Jeep part maybe? I'm so used to seeing OME anti-inversion shackles on 40s in need that they took me by surprise. :poof:
Was it stripped and sprayed OCONUS?

GLWS

Hm-m-m, not your run of the mill marketing technique. GLWS!

OK. You win. It is not a restoration, but an impovement. It is better than original in my opinión. And it looks cooler and drives better. If you don´t like it. more power to you, go original. I have no issues. It is what it is...

Man oh man you guys are hard on a guy trying to sell his truck chill out.

Yeah, you're right but the OP came in with some real attitude and I think created his own mess. I probably should have just ignored his BS but something got ahold of me and I jumped in. Not one of my best moments I'm sure.

Curious about this build. There are some very strange choices made, that have made many question this truck. It's not a restoration at all. It's a questionably modified SOA Land Cruiser with LOTS and LOTS of green paint. It looks amateurish. Was the "restoration" done while still in South America? With the extra lights, bling and no substance, it kind of looks that way.

-What's up with the steering? It's got a saginaw pump (good) and it's sprung over but running low steering. Where is the steering gear box? And it looks like the drag link is dog legged and welded to the tie rod. That's a dangerous short cut that isn't road worthy. Hard to see but that's what it looks like. It could make the scary steering site, so that's something.

-Where is the alternator? I assume it's low on the driver side? And that battery looks like it came with the rig from SA.

-There are a ton of outright missing pieces-hard top, running boards, carb cooling fan, skid plate, dust shield on rear driveshaft to name a few

-If the rig has such low miles (if true), why did the motor need to be rebuilt? Was it rebuilt in the US? At this price level, you gotta have a story for stuff like that.

-The ignition is odd. It's apparently there, but it's bolted in wrong and in the wrong place. It doesn't look stock. And then the support bent out of the way?

-What's the big glob on the radiator? Probably a repair. A restore should have a new radiator, at least a new cap! And the old upper radiator hose was re-used. A $28,500 restored FJ40 needs new rubber parts.

-Why the curved shackles? Functional but weird looking and confer no advantages. Hardly restoration worthy.

-What's the electric fuel pump doing there? A "rebuilt" motor would have a new mechanical fuel pump and not need the electric pump.

-The "new" interior looks like pick and pull seating. That's cool and we all do that, but you said new?

"You will not find a better, tougher FJ40. $28,500" Tougher? A real roll cage, skid plate, and proper bumpers would go a long way here....

Anyone who knows Land Cruisers will run away from this one. Most of the "restoration" work will need to be redone just to make the rig safe to drive on the road.

Your best bet is going to be ebay and hope that someone with stars in their eyes is further blinded by the green paint and buys it from a distance. The further the better because eventually the buyer is going to come back asking a lot of questions.
