1974 Inner door panels

Those are neat. Being an anti purist, it's fun to see some of them get shut down when they say "those are not stock, remove immediately" ha ha ha.

Updating an old thread.. I just picked up a set of these doors with the panels. They are dirty (the panels but are not torn and can be cleaned up.) The doors have no rust on them either. Just a bit of metal massage and a cosmetic resto and they would be good to go... Maybe I will put them up for sale as they seem to be pretty rare eh? Pictures this eve...

Pics?

I think of these every time I see a pic like this...

I'm surprised more 40s didn't come with inner door pannels... couldn't add that much to the cost of a new truck.

I saw a set of these once on a parts cruiser in Grand Junction CO. They are definetly stock, the metal trim pieces around the latch and on top are a factory made type of piece, the top metal piece actually wraps around the front of the door and ties into the bolt there. The metal parts were factory pewter colored on the ones I saw. This rig was actually pretty unique as it was the rare pumpkin orange, and may have even had an OEM rollbar and long jump seats as I recall.

They are for sure a neat piece, however, do they really serve any real purpose???? For those of you that have them or been around them, do they lessen the vibration/rattle of the old style doors over rough roads. My doors do flex in and out with washboards and such on the road and contribute to the rattle of the window regulator and door latches, do thes panels reduce that, or were they just purely for show???

MoCoNative... Just saw this reply. Functionally, I'm sure they'd help to deaden some noise. Rattles, not likely. Most of the rattles come from the door handles. I also dont thind theyd reduce door flex, since stock they're made of hardboard. Most of the flex is from the cracks these doors develop beneath the vent window and down the front of the door. (I never realized how many until I took them apart and welded them all). I'm sure they're softer when your knee bangs against them. Aesthetically, I like them, and I'm sure they came stock on most Canadian models.

I've never driven with hard doors that didn't have them on them, so can't really compare how much difference they'd make... However, every bit helps to reduce the tendency for these trucks to echo like a tin can.

With bronze bushings, welded cracks, and adjusted strikers, my doors close with a solid thud and no longer rattle... Or at least rarely rattle.

bringing up an old thread cause I just saw another set....

did anyone find me a set of these yet??? I still want them!

Those door panels were a 74 only. But only on some. Like the orange 40's. They are south american spec. 74 was a big sales year for the US. It seems Toyota diverted some 40' from SA to the US.

here is a pic I took years ago of a local 40 with the same panels

Bumping an old thread for cool parts, anybody have a set of the metal trims laying around? Please pm me if you do.

Thank you, I'll check with him.

I figured the reference from 2013 would be to old to call and harass him for parts:)
