My 1969 has three different keys:
1) ignition
2) door
3) tailgate
I have heard some on MUD replace locks so they have less keys.

Found your problem with it not starting. Pigs only drink beer - no CocaCola.

Any suggestions on a replacement distributor? I would love to go electronic ignition!!
I've been running this on the 2F in my 40 and no problemos. I believe they have one for an F engine as well. The price is right too. I'm sure it's not as good as a DUI, but may be something to consider.

Very cool parts supply business that you found. I wasn't aware of them. Shocked that they had a tailgate handle in stock.

Like Pablo said; key only turns a tiny bit for the rear window. Lots of potential issues with the tailgate window. I would start with the sticky thread at the top of the forum and go from there. There are two switches (rear and dash), one relay, one safety switch on the tailgate, and one motor involved. There's also a terminal strip in the tailgate that gets very brittle but is still available. Most of us have bypassed the safety switch by installing a jumper on the terminal strip as most have failed by now. If I had to troubleshoot I would start there.

Thank you for the advice! I am looking forward to digging into it. I love a good challenge. I need to get this thing running first :)

I am having a hard time finding a distributor for a 1F engine. Do the 1F and the 2F use the same distributor? I also have a distributor and coil off of a 2F from a 1984 FJ60 will that work?

Thanks

Here is the video of me walking around and taking inventory of all that needs to be done :)

I am not good at naming vehicles. I have probably owned 15-20 different ones in my life time and only 3 or 4 got names. I've been wrestling with naming my FJ40 since I got it three and a half years ago. I like it when a vehicle "calls out" to me and sort of let's me know its name. The only name that has come to me from my FJ40 is when I painted it two weeks ago and I realized that Toyota Sky Blue is exactly the same color as the Smurfs... but I don't think I can call my 40 "Papa Smurf" or "Smurfette"

My FJ55 has let me know his name... I found these in the glove box when we brought him home.

Therefore we are going to name him "Winchester Buckshot III". "The Third" because 1970 is the third year they made FJ55's. We will probably call him "Bucky". I know that there is another FJ55 on our forum named "Bucky" so we will call him by his given name here on the thread as "Winchester" or "Buckshot", but we will affectionally call him "Bucky" around our house :)!

Fired up the motor for the first time today. Pretty exciting!!! I need to get a oil pressure gauge, top off the fluids, and clean out the gas tank before I let it run for more that 20 seconds... here it is :)
