More photos and a little more about the truck.

It's basically bone stock with the F-engine but it has had a solid state ignition added and a coolant recovery tank.

All of the exterior lights work, tranny and clutch seem solid, engine is tired but runs smoothly and doesn't seem to use much oil. 4 WD works. Has a fairly new set of Michelin LTX tires.

The last couple of times I've driven it (yesterday most recently) the starter refused to crank until I gave it a couple of taps with a mallet, so the starter and/or solenoid may be on the way out.

It has the original, and somewhat dubious drum brakes, but they will stop the vehicle eventually.

The truck really needs a thorough mechanical overhaul and paint job, if not a complete restoration. I bought it about 4 years ago with the idea of doing this, but I guess I don't really have the time or skill to do it right. I think it would be an excellent place to start for someone wanting to restore an FJ40 however.

promising baseline for a resto, just wish it was a bit younger so the stick was on the floor.

GLWS!

Thanks for the bump.

The 3-on-the-tree is actually kind of fun in an "old school" way, and it is the way they came from the factory, for the purist out there.

I don't think converting to a floor shift is that big a deal if a complete restoration is being done. I kind of like the original configuration though.

Hey everyone,

I've had several inquiries about my truck. Most of you seem to want more photos. My desktop computer monitor is on the blink all of a sudden, I can't figure out how to use my wife's ipad, so I am reduced to using my old laptop, which is also a bit troublesome (I am just not a computer guy I guess).

So to make things a little easier, here are a few more photos and some more info.

It's an old car. The body has some surface rust here and there but no perforations that I can see. I am not an expert mechanic or body repair guy, but I think you could dissasemble the body, sand it down and repaint it and not have to replace much, if any, metal.

I have been driving it around on the country roads where I live for 4 years. Because it's old, kind of slow, and has sketchy drum brakes, I'd never take it into modern city traffic. It just isn't suited for that.

The truck really needs a mechanical and cosmetic restoration. If any of you are looking for a turn-key, daily driver this probably isn't the one for you.

This one need some $ and work from someone that knows how to do such things and has the time to do it.

I think it could be a great cruiser though and all the pieces are there.

I actually love this old truck. It's a hoot to drive and always gets attention wherever I go. (my wife thinks it's a piece of crap, but what does she know).

However, it has reached a point where it really needs serious attention and I just don't have the time, skill, or facilities to do it right. So I am hoping she can go to a good home where she'll get the attention she needs.

Thanks for all of the interest.

An update on my 40.

In the original ad I mentioned that the starter may be going bad. On further investigation I found one of the wires to the solenoid had become loose in its terminal connector. Tightened that up and all is well with the starter.

I've had a couple of people ask me about the condition of the roll bar mounting area on my truck. I guess this is a rust prone area, but mine seems pretty solid.

Since my ad has fallen back to page 4, I'll post some pics of the roll bar and rear sill for a bump.

I just learned that the roll bar on the older Landcruisers was a dealer installed option (like the Selectro hubs). I never really paid much attention to the roll bar, but looking at it now it seems obvious that it was installed after the truck was built. I guess it would still be considered "original equipment" though, since it was a dealer option.

Anyway, more pics.

Thanks,

The more I look at this truck, the more I think I should just bite the bullet and restore it myself. It's such a nice original truck it's almost like a time capsule from 1969. I've had a lot of calls and emails, but noone has come out to have a look. I guess if it doesn't sell soon I'll just start fixing her up myself.

If I were in a slightly different financial position I would be entering serious negotiations... A truck this original is just what I would love to have...

I'm just glad that it is not 500 miles closer or I wouldn't be able to control myself. (want to drive it to Harrisburg, PA? - about 1/2 way)

PLEASE sell this to someone that will keep it all stock... it would be a crime to build it up...
