Got my frame back from powder coat this morning, I'm very satisfied with the work. You can find areas that aren't perfect but that wasn't what I was going for. If anyone in Southern California is interested, this was done at Crisol Metal Finishing in Gardena. It's a little dusty in the pics, but finish looks good to me.

They do nice work! And friendly I like them. I had my 60 series chrome wheels PC'D white along with a few other parts. look great!

So I sat up in a panic at work today thinking about my U-bolt plates. I was reading that the fit of the center pin should be very tight to the center hole of the plate to keep the axles from shifting.
When I installed mine I had to clean them up a bit to fit since they wouldn’t slide on. So how close is close? I pulled one off tonight and have about 0.005 to 0.008” clearance on the diameter. Should it be like a press fit? I can weld up the holes and redrill if necessary

The u bolt plates arn't a big deal. It's the center pin and the axle perch that need to fit nicely to keep the axle in place.

Your build is looking good!

You should be fine. Mine are definitely not a machine fit.

Thanks you guys. That makes sense now; perch fits to the spring.
Appreciate it. Each thing that gets done is one less thing on the list...

Getting the bell housing cleaned up today. Supposedly my engine comes Monday. Motor mount with two bolts and one has a fancy nut spacer. And the threads were crossed to boot.
Bell housing threads are cleaned up now and will be sure to put all the bolts back in!

Probably tried to put an SAE bolt in its place. It’s an oddball 1.75 pitch that looks a lot like a 1/2x13.

Forgot to tell you to check for radial bias on the center arm before you assemble. Road shock sometimes bends the hooked end of the arm.

Simple check: the flat on the arm where the drag link attaches should be parallel to top of the arm where you insert the bushings.

You have an oil-cooler water pump with a non oil cooler oil filter housing.

I can always count on your keen eyes, haha. So do folks cap the pump or cool the oil?
Don't cap the pump outlet. It will always fail at the worst possible time. Ask me how I know ;)

Now your work begins !!!

One step at a time, one step at a time. That's all I can tell myself to keep my sanity! haha
Yep one step at a time. I`m right with you doing a F/2F swap over. I ran that water pump on my f engine and just used that extra port for the heater hose might not have been correct but worked.

Dumb question- this is the driver side rear motor mount on the bell housing. What attaches to this location? I don’t think I had anything mounted to this when I pulled the motor.
