Outstanding Jason! You think it will be ready for the Fall Roundup in Oct.? Always look forward to your updates.

I'm afraid it's not going to happen. I was shooting for that, but there is still a TON too do and Ross & I are still having Engine block issues :(

Bummer, the final result will be worth the wait.

H&S Bodyworks in Bakersfield, Ca finished the cowl, tub, fenders, bib, hood, windshield frame and all the rest of the bodywork. Final pics below of the rhino lining inside the tub. They also did under fenders, under the tub, behind the front bib and fender skirts. I went with a tan based liner and added some of the "Toyota Spring Green T-1028" color to it to give it that two-tone unique look and different. Turned out great and in person looks awesome. Photos just don't do justice sometimes.

Hey Rock, beautiful work. I'm in the 'middle' of a 67 frame off. Curious how you finished those brake unions. I just did mine with PPG paint, but those look really nice. I'm over on Bainbridge- hope to cross paths one of these days.

@bb67tlc, the unions were just media blasted and then re-zinc plated in CA. Jason found a shop down there that would do little bits of anything in bulk. Everything nut, bolt, etc on Jason's 66' was cleaned and zinc'd. Shipping it all was the nightmare however.....

What's in the bag???

That block looks awesome! Always look forward to your posts!

Sheeaat sweeet. I can almost see every atom.

Did you get the crank and rods balanced? I really wish I did that on my motor while I had it apart.
Yes, even the connecting rod bolts were balanced. EVERYTHING should be absolutely right when it comes to balance on this motor. I was told that the crank alone was off 40 grams, over 2x what's considered "normal".

Engine assembly commenced this morning and I discovered that it's hard to remember exactly how everything goes when a motor has been apart this long! Good thing for pics because the factory manual is really not that incredibly helpful.

Correctly pressing on the cam gear instead of using a BFF last the last installer did....a used spacer from an SM465 countershaft made the perfect press assistant here.

Cam is installed, I'm using Redline synthetic assembly lube throughout this process, great stuff

Camshaft gear and timing gear are correctly aligned on the timing marks here. Camshaft thrust plate is also installed and torqued

Started on the oil pump and pickup now. Had to swap some of the pickup lines to fit a "newer" style pickup screen. The screen from the 66' was bent and broken. The oil pump is a rebuilt unit courtesy of @65swb45 and hopefully I'll be able to get the oil pan on tomorrow.

Sounds like a typical f/2f motor. That thing will purr nicely.
