Your cruiser used to be column shift and is now 3 speed on the floor correct? Hmm, I guess your s. wheel may have come off as well at some point. What position is yours in at the moment?

Correct, my 3-speed is a floor shift. I believe hdjtachtig and nuclearlemon have it right. My steering wheel is mounted 180-opposite theirs, which places one spoke at 12 o'clock with the tires pointed straight, partially obstructing the driver's view of the speedometer while cruising down a straightaway. That partial obstruction alone indicates to me that my steering wheel is upside down. It only makes sense (to me at least) that with the steering wheel straight the largest void between the spokes should be positioned to provide the most unobstructed view possible of the instrument panel.

Period Correct Rad Cap and Restored Lugs.

Just got the Rad Cap in today from Toyota. The 51 year old Lug Nuts re-plated look real pretty. :grinpimp:

Nice stuff :)

I believe I had the ring on the chain fit on the overflow tube and the tube then holds the ring from sliding off ... If you feel like going that route ... It works well :)

BTW the way nuclearlemon has the steering wheel is correct... Look at any large wheel cars/trucks in the 50's and 60's and they are all this way... If they are not... Then they have their wheels turned LOL

Steering WHEEL correct now.

Steering wheel lined up properly, Period correct cap on just like you did JohnnyC, over the tube and yes, works great. Looks good and chain all good. Restored Lugs look great. More details, all good.

weird, annies rad has a tab "welded" on for the chain to hook to (ignore the stant cap, that's a temp fix. new cap going on order next week and old seal was bad)

A few more pics / 1962 fj40

Pulled it out of the garage, quick drive. Back to solving a few issues and decided to redo my steps. Also, painting the outside mirror so both are missing. But, it is coming along and should be done by end of next week. Am taking it back to my painter this week also for touch up spots outside, inside, undercarriage. I want it as perfect as possible. Also, Anyone have a period correct FRONT license plate holder? Lemmie know. I will buy it.

Thanks Nuclearlemon. I thought mine was period correct. I forget where I bought it and as you can see my cruiser did not come with the front plate holder. Please send me a pic of yours if yours is period correct. If that is possible. Will track one down. Thanks for the correction. fjfjfj
