BTW spare wheel is on the wrong side

You are right fjfjfj, I was talking about the spare wheel on the ash tray and not on your 62 fj40. That one is on the same side as mine.

But thanks for the info LITP. Sparewheels here in Europe are sometimes left and sometimes right. Don't know when that changed or why that varies. There are no landcruisers imported here before about 1970. One thing is for sure: on 70 series they are always on the right side.

Hello HD,,,,,,,,,,,,,I was wrong. I thought the early year JDM Land Cruisers, since they were RHD would have the spare tire on the Left side. Seems they do not from doing some quick research. The ash tray spare tire? Must be a mistake? Anyway, back to the real thing!!!!

Not sure about RHD hard tops but early soft tops with the ambulance rear doors spare was on the left side. I'll dig out my old FSM to see what I can find. But here is a early FJ43 that is in OZ. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/452894-fj43.html No spare tire carrier but if you look at the picture of the left rear wheel well it has the support for the spare tire carrier.

Beautiful!

A few more pics.

Battery came in today. Glad I listened to Mud and pushed ahead with period correct battery. Also, picked up these tin cups from Mr. Binns. Will restore and get them on within the next week. I should be pretty much period correct after those go on. Here is where I got the battery. http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/index.html

Sorry for the double post, but I think it is better to post this in the 25 section also:

One more thing: I found this picture which is from Annies thread. The plug leads are unisolated here. I remember a similar image in our 62 owners manual which I do not have by hand at the moment.

HD is correct.

Thanks HD and will address it. Hoping to dial in on all the details so thanks for bringing details to my attention. Here is a pic of my engine before restore.

Looking great Dave!!

Where are you sending your tin cups to be restored? Will they plate the parts for you separately...or will you have to do that?

Thanks again for the nice comment. Tin Cups going to be taken apart today and separate parts going to Temecula Quality Plating. They have done a great job on every part I have taken to them. If anyone ever needs something done? Call Duc : 951-296-9875.

D a r n...wish I would have known sooner...I would have sent you a couple of cups and end fittings to be plated at the same time...I have to send out my master to be rebuilt as well...

More pictures. Details are getting done.

I got the new period correct battery in today. Working on the Tin Cups, just a few more days on those. Actually drove the cruiser today. Ran Great. Got the front doors almost done. They open, close and lock perfectly. The weatherstripping all in so real tight fit. Like new man!!! Here are some more quick pics I snapped this afternoon. Gotta get my side mirror painted and do some other touch up paint work. Am down to only a page of details.

Sure is pretty!!!

With so much attention to detail to make it as close to an original 1962 as possible, I wonder if anyone has a correct 1962 front bumper laying around...not that anyone would know the difference.

That battery was worth the money...everything looks great Dave!!!

You can study that difference for yourself here, in a link JohnnyC provided in FJFJFJ's retro battery thread, which providentially depicts both a 1961 and a 1962 for comparison: http://www.serie4.fr/articles/pdf/20100309104700.pdf

Yea, the front bumper will just have to stay I'm afraid. Am flat out of money on this project. Used what $$$ I had available and have set aside a bit more for the details. Am happy to see this project got from one side of the river to the other without stalling in the middle. lol.
