Very clean! Your truck did not come with an early cluster... (white-face)? Either way, looks like it is out of a 1962 sales brochure.

Hello daniel.watters,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/544543-clusters-gauges-odo-meters-13.html this link addressed my black faced speedo plate. BJ40GREEN appears to be the expert on clusters. I can only say that my cruiser sat in a barn from 1968 to 2012 with teeth busted off the flywheel and a broken column shifter until I purchased it and fixed it. The odom was working perfectly. The cluster Oil light and Charge light with silver trim and green center high beam indicator were all intact and correct for 1962. The cluster did NOT appear to have been messed with at all. BJ40GREEN called it a '' puzzle ''. I have to agree. When restoring the cruiser I just decided to leave everything alone, clean it all up and put it back in there since it came with the cruiser. Did Toyota use a BLACK speedo face on my 1962? Is that possible? The PO did not change it. He bought the cruiser in 1965 from the original owner. So,,,,,,,,,,,go figure. Thanks for the nice comments you guys. Almost finished.

Anything is possible; I know Toyota had several of these transitional moments with FJ40's.

I think anything from Toyota back then would be possible... There are so many small changes that Toyota makes and lots to do with location.

I have always thought it so odd they only did the lower guages in blk ... Why just them ... I think it would have looked better to have a blk sorround and keep the Gages the silver :)

Hey, I did notice a black face idiot light 1963 gauge on an FJ45. So, I guess there were variations. I agree with Johnny C and Daniel.Watters. I also noticed the TEQ imprinted on my black faced speedo 1962 in two spots. So,,,,,,,,who knows.

Driver door done,,,,,,,Almost

We put in the guts of the driver door today. Pretty much done ( door lock getting new key ) and a few other details on that door to iron out. Unique window regulators for sure. Love those. I went ahead and left the old wing window sticker on there from way back in the early 60's. It is all still ez to read although old. So funny. It reads: " KING OF THE ROAD / NATIONAL MOTOR CLUB MEMBER / $200.00 REWARD PAID TO ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR PRIVATE CITIZEN FOR THE RECOVERY OF THIS MEMBERS CAR UPON CONVICTION OF THIEF ''.

a few more pics

Jack and Tools. Tried to get as close as possible to period correct. The map is an old original ESSO road map. Some of the freeways not done completely. Remember when you used to travel ( us old timers ) lol. You would check the map to see where the Interstate ended. I like those enticing little drawings that made you want to travel. :)

The old Tool Bags are very cool. Also, not sure if all the U.S. Toyota Dealerships were handing out ashtrays when you bought a Land Cruiser ( made in Japan written on the back ) but a dealership in Carson City, Nevada was back in 1963.

That ashtray is so cool! Was that a common gift? (BTW spare wheel is on the wrong side). Did you find that in your cruiser?

Living in the Past,,,,,,,,I assumed this ashtray LC was a 1963 or older RIGHT HAND DRIVE cruiser from the Japanese Domestic Market since the tire carrier was on the opposite side. My 1962 tire carrier is on the right side, left hand drive. I am 99% sure that this ashtray came from Carson City Toyota Dealership in 1963 because I received it as a gift from an original owner's son of a 1963 FJ40. Hello HD, No I did not find it in my 62 cruiser. Just thought it was so cool I wanted to list it up here.
